Look at you all standing over there with that group of International Business doctoral students all nodding like you know exactly what they mean when they say that China is devaluing their currency. But you know what? It totally doesn't matter. You just keep smiling and swirling your glass of Chard or Pinot or whatever else you ended up buying from this Woot-Off while interjecting the occasional remark about tannins and flavor notes and whatnot. No one will even notice you're completely out of your element when it comes to the economic strategies of foreign powers.
2006 Karren Vineyard Cabernet 750ml
The Cabernet from this vineyard produces a sturdy full-bodied wine with plenty of rich tannins, making it both age worthy and enjoyable in its youth. The aroma has good intensity and complexity, with aromas of black fruit (black currant, blackberry and black cherry), cinnamon, coffee, leather and clove, with floral overtones. On the palate this Cabernet achieves the elusive combination of power and finesse, the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. This wine will continue to fill out, soften and gain finesse for many years to come. At this point in its evolution decanting really helps it to open up and show all its nuances of aroma and flavor.
2006 Handal-Denier Cabernet 750ml
2006 was a very good year for Cabernet in most of Sonoma County and this Cabernet was the cream of the crop. The aroma has good intensity, dominated by ripe fruit (cherry and blackberry) with notes of pepper, olive and vanilla. On the palate this Cabernet is moderately sweet, supple entry and rich, but not heavy, middle lead to a long finish with soft tannins and lingering fruit aftertaste. This wine will continue to soften, mature and gain in complexity for several years in the cellar.

Raspberry, black pepper, violets, olive and spice aromas. Smooth and silky texture, bright fruit, long clean finish.
