2007 Estate Zinfandel 750ml
This wine is representative of the vintage, with deep ripe fruit, a good level of acid, and the structure to age. It has great complexity, with new aromas at every whiff: lots of blackberry and blueberry fruit, briar, tons of spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, pepper), caramel, and even a violet-like floral note. The flavors are predominantly ripe blackberry fruit with a ginger-like hint at the back, and the finish is long and solid without being excessively astringent or hot. This is a big wine, but, as with all our wines, has balance.
This 2007 Estate bottled Zinfandel is a blend of wine from our ancient vines, planted in 1892, with wine from more recent plantings that were grafted using budwood from our old vines.
2007 Meeks Hilltop Zinfandel 750ml
The concentrated blackberry fruit aromas with hints of raspberry, cherry, cinnamon and black pepper say classic “Zin.” The entry is smooth and full, and the mid-palate has great flavor intensity (Zintensity?). The finish is bright, with great flavor persistence. 2007 was a dream year weather-wise, and this wine shows off all of the inherent quality of the vintage. It drinks beautifully now and should last several more years.
2007 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel 750ml
Blackberry fruit with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, coffee and tar. Big, sweet entry, chewy tannins, big mid-palate fruit – like a dark chocolate covered raspberry.
