Attack of the Vermin Teens

Say "vair-mayn-TEE-no". Not only is it correct, it doesn't sound like "vermin".

Vina Robles Vermentino had a happy childhood - for a few years. By about fifth grade, though, the other kids had learned the word "vermin". And Vina Robles Vermentino never heard the end of it. It wasn't crying alone in its oak barrels on prom night. It just had something in its eye.

But oh, if those little monsters could see it now. Vina Robles Vermentino grew into its fresh, creamy flavors. It turned that pain into an expressive richness that says to its childhood tormentors "I have seen the true vermin, and it is you."

Features

2012 Vina Robles Vermentino, Huerhuero 750ml 4-Pack

The fruit for this wine originated from the estate Huerhuero Vineyard located in the rolling hills of Paso Robles. Planted as a trial, Vina Robles soon discovered that this Italian grape variety responded extremely well to the terroir and wanted to give it its own showcase.

The grapes were hand harvested at night in an effort to preserve the fruit’s fresh flavors. After pressing at the winery, the juice was fermented in both small stainless steel tanks and neutral French oak barrels. The wine was aged sur lie for four months in these vessels to enhance the complexity and its characteristically rich mouthfeel.

Vina Robles

Owner:
Hans Nef
Founded:
1996
Location:
Paso Robles, CA
We craft wines that represent a stylistic bridge between the Old and New worlds, capturing the finesse associated with the European wines while celebrating the bold natural flavors of our estate vineyards in Paso Robles. Here, proprietor Hans Nef and managing partner Hans – R. Michel bring their Swiss heritage to California’s Central Coast, where they aim to unite the best of both experiences.

“I want Vina Robles to express a unique balance of European heritage and American opportunity. As individuals, we are rooted in the Old World. As winemakers, we are empowered by the New World. But both worlds bring value to what we do, and we endeavor to capture this distinction in our wines.” -Proprietor Hans Nef

We first discovered Paso Robles in the early 1980s and became enamored with this emerging wine country. Along golden slopes, where the Pacific coastline unfolds into rugged ranchlands and cowboy ambiance, a new generation of California winemakers was turning Paso Robles into one of the world’s most dynamic winegrowing regions. In the mid 1990s we planted our first estate vineyard and established Vina Robles as a family winery specializing in varieties that excel in the region’s diverse terroir. The vision for Vina Robles is summed up by our motto: European Inspiration – California Character.

Today, our wines are available across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, and can be enjoyed at our hospitality center in the heart of the Paso Robles wine country.
