Crazy Passionate

It takes two to tango. But only one to finish off this 3-pack of Argentinian red so BACK OFF IT'S MINE.

The Argentine Tango is one of the most challenging, yet graceful dances to master. This Argentinian red is one of the most delicious, and therefore, difficult wines to share.

When it comes to the Tango, I am quite the capable dancer and partner. I'm also a very generous lover, but that's neither here nor there. However, when it comes to sharing wine, especially one that exhibits an intense dark red color with purple hues and an elegant nose with touches of raspberries and mulberries, I am truly at a loss.

Lead me through a media vuelta and I will follow. Try to steal a sip of my wine and I will cut you. I apologize if this offends. It's just my fiery South American personality coupled with my unquenchable thirst for wine that pairs well with hard cheeses, pasta and grilled red meats.

2005 Urraca Primera Reserva Malbec/Merlot Blend 750ml 3-Pack

This blend is a perfect combination of Malbec and Merlot. It exhibits an intense dark red color with purple hues and an elegant nose with touches of raspberries and mulberries. Aged in new French and American oak barrels for 18 months balances it out with hints of chocolate, tobacco and vanilla. Its palate is large with great volume and consistent intensity. It impacts with its sweetness and long and memorable finish.  This very Argentinean Malbec with a touch of Merlot pairs well with hard cheeses, salty foods, pasta and grilled red meats. A perfect match for Argentinean "Asado" (BBQ).

Urraca's Wines are all single vineyard-wines. They only produce one top quality level grape. Their grapes are hand-harvested in baskets, transported in 20kg bins to be hand sorted at the winery. Their wines are barrel aged and they use new or second use barrels only. Their wines are selections from American and French Oak and they use steel tanks for fermentation and barrels for aging.

Mendoza is the most renowned wine-growing region in Argentina for its perfect combination of soil and altitude, resulting in small grapes with concentrated flavor, color and tannins. The 3000 foot elevation of Urraca's 117 acre Vineyard located at the base of the Andes provides warm temperatures during the day and cool temperatures at night, resulting in a long and dry growing season ideal for grapes. The runoff from the snowmelt from the Andes provides irrigation through "acequias" (ancient) canals to the  vineyards. Urraca uses an old method of flood irrigation throughout their entire 30-year-old vineyard to supply their vines grown on high trellis. Harvest season is between the months of February and April depending on the grape variety and seasonal climate changes. 5500 plants per hectar, yield is 8000 kgs per hectar.
