Teacher and Student

If you want to get schooled in what makes wine so great, all you need is a good Tudor.

Tudor knows how to succeed. It knows how to pass the tests with flying colors; how else could the 2006 Pinot Noir score 90 points in Wine Spectator? But best of all, it is willing to pass all of its knowledge along to you. It’s willing to take you into its Tudelage and teach you everything there is to know about enjoying good wine.

Each Tudoring session begins with a warm-up olfactory exercise consisting of a nose full of complex loamy earth, dried berry and currant. These aromas – tight and focused – also serve as a nice lesson on discipline and organization, teaching the Tudee to value and respect structure. From there Tudor moves onto the bulk of the assignment – the delightful blueberry and floral scents – before ending with a reward for a job well done – the drinking of the wine.

Now, if you seek a Tudor yourself, you may feel overwhelmed at first, but remember that people learn best through repetition. So feel free to schedule several Tudoring sessions a week until you feel as though you’ve got things figured out.

In an increasingly mechanized world, there are still a few handcrafted products that stand out. Fine wine is one of them.

At Tudor Wines, we select fruit from family-owned vineyards and transform it into wine using traditional techniques. These include small fermentations mixed by hand and aging in French barrels. The resulting wine has a purity of expression that cannot be duplicated on a larger scale.

The 2000 Tudor Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir was the inaugural release from Tudor Wines. By working closely with our family growers and winemaking staff, we made sure that low yields combined with maximum grape maturity produced wine with optimal flavor profiles – a balance of ripeness, acidity, and tannins.
