Features
2006 Tom Eddy Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum
The 2006 Tom Eddy Cabernet Sauvignon is a complex wine that exemplifies what blending is all about. The fruit from which this wine is made comes from five very distinct regions in Napa bringing many supple layers of flavor and aroma. Rich dark chocolate and espresso permeate this blend with hints of dark fruit intermingling to bring about a multifaceted experience. Subtle truffle and earthy flavors also show through producing a wine with the richness of New World style Cabs and the elegance and sophistication of Old World reds. Just a kiss of Merlot helps to round this wine out and bring a near perfect balance for a great wine experience now and for many years to come.

Copious amounts of rain throughout the winter and early spring ensured that the 2006 vines would be vigorous in growth and at least average in yield. Both heat spikes and conversely cool temperatures in the summer slowed the physiology of the vines down causing a late harvest for most of the Napa Valley. Due to naturally cooler temperatures in the Napa mountains, the Cabernets from these regions weathered the tough summer heat. Coupled with careful fruit thinning and meticulous vineyard management, the 2006 harvest for Napa mountain fruit turned out to be surprisingly first-rate.
