Suggested Cheese Pairing - Vella Cheese Dry Jack Cheese: The firm texture, nuttiness, and tanginess of the Dry Jack and Mezzo Secco pair perfectly with the full-bodied, savory Tara Bella Cabernet Sauvignon from the Russian River Valley.  The mouth-filling tannins in the wine bind to the salty, fatty goodness of these aged cheeses, which culminates in a delightful, if unexpected, pairing.

2011 Tara Bella Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County 750ml

A bold dry Cabernet Sauvignon that proudly shares its story through the terroir.   The presence of the earth and the vineyard’s soil variations are clearly evident in the nose.  Deep aromas of the forest floor and a bell pepper blend with the milder aromas of dark chocolate and savory herbs.

Opening notes on the tongue are soft tannins presenting as sour cherry and plum skins.  A warm spice undertone then leads you to a sweeter blackberry with a juicy mixed fruit bouquet.  The finish is warm and long.  This wine is in its adolescence and will mature into a highly delectable wine.

With moderate alcohol content and balanced natural acidity, this is an excellent food wine which you could open this evening with your favorite pork Milanese, grilled eggplant parmesan, or lay down for over a decade.

2011 Tara Bella Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Russian River Valley 750ml

This beauty is presenting itself as a delectable young wine. The cool growing season is evident. Because of the loss of blossoms in early spring, our thinned out clusters reveal the stress of the vine and deep concentration of the fruit lending an excellent complexity which will uncoil as the wine ages in the bottle.

If opened now, one finds on the nose, hints of vanilla and blackberry, sun-dried cranberries and dark cherries.

On the palate it leads with a pleasant blend of tannin and spice balanced with an almost candied cherry, rolling out into earthy pepper tones.  The finish is long with toasty flavors of soft tannin. The diversity in this wine will only improve as it matures.

With its moderate alcohol content and balanced natural acidity, this is an excellent food wine which you could open this evening with friends with grilled meats, a savory red sauce over pasta or lay down for over a decade.

Pour tonight with grilled meats and savory sauces or lay down for well over a decade.

Wendy & Kevin Morrow
Founded:
1995
Location:
Russian River Valley, Sonoma County

Since 1986, Kevin and Wendy Morrow have had a dream of owning a small family winery in Sonoma County. Kevin has been receiving awards since he started learning to make wine 27 years ago.

In 1995, Kevin & Wendy’s friends, Rich and Tara were fortunate to locate and secure 8 acres of virgin, undeveloped land, nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of the Russian River Valley. The property was surrounded by lush vineyards owned or contracted by some of Sonoma and Napa’s finest wineries. In 1998, they committed themselves to building an Estate winery and vineyards by planting Clone 4 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon on the west 3 acres. Then in 2005, they planted Clone 7 Estate Cab to the east 3 acres.

In 2010, having wanting to retire for many years, Rich and Tara approached Kevin and Wendy with an offer “they couldn’t refuse”, to continue the legacy. Kevin adheres to making wine, beautifully handcrafted, the “old fashioned” way. He believes that great wines are made in the vineyard.
Kevin and Wendy, along with their youngest son, Dillon, do all the work themselves.

All of the vintages are aged in French Oak for 22 months and then bottle aged a few more. There is no blending here. Every bottle is 100% estate grown single vineyard. This might be the reason for the 14 gold and 2 double gold medals on past vintages.

Kevin takes the wine from the bud to the bottle. Every bottle is numbered, and Dillon has beautifully hand waxed each one.
