They’ll never know.
“Hey Ronnie, enjoyin’ the party?”
“Yeah! Great! Totally fitting in!”
“Hey man, relax. You’re fine! I know you feel like you’re socially awkward sometimes, but just be yourself. Everyone will be totally cool. Hey, Emily! Have you met Ronnie, yet?”
“I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure. Hi, Ronnie.”
“Hiya!”
“I’ll leave you two to chat for a sec.”
“So, Emily. Nice party, eh?”
“Yeah! What do you think of the Summerland Trio?”
“The what?”
“The 2007 Summerland Trio Rhone Blend?”
“Oh! I, uh, LOVE them. Yeah. They’re my favorite.”
“They?”
“Well sure, how could you pick just one? They’re all such great musicians.”
“Musicians?”
“Vocalists. I mean, I consider the voice to be an instrument. And I listen to them every weekend on Prairie Home Companion. Yeah, it just harkens back to a simpler time. Yes sir, the Summerland Trio really are great.”
“I…was talking about the wine.”
“What?”
“The Summerland Trio. It’s a wine. It’s a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre. It flirts with your palate using red fruit and cedar flavor.”
“Okay.”
“You’re drinking it now.”
“Right! The wine! I knew that! I was…testing YOU! I’m a bit of a wine buff and I just hate when someone’s out of their element but tries to act like they know what they’re talking about, y’know! Ha ha!”
“Oh. So what’s your favorite varietal?”
“Uh, lemon?”

Inspired by the rustic yet expressive wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape in the Southern Rhone, this three-varietal blend delivers complex flavors with medium body and a silky finish showcasing red fruits and cedar. Layered, full-bodied, round, and incredibly elegant. The charming strawberry character of Grenache complements the red fruit core of Syrah and the blackberry power of Mourvedre to create a delightful harmony of flavors. Nice, round core fruit, full in mid-palate, prominent tannins.
Serving suggestion: rare beef tenderloin, barbeque meats and sharp cheeses.
