Bragan' Rights

Oh sure, Chrysler can do it all they want. They can show Eminem or Clint Eastwood driving down the streets of Detroit, and it’s a thing of pride.

It’s like, “We’re doing this for you, Michigan!” But if I try walking around Detroit with an open bottle of 2012 Braganini Reserve Chardonnay in either hand – wines made in Paw Paw, Michigan, for crying out loud – it’s considered embarrassing! Can you believe that?

Well, I’m sorry everyone! Sorry that you have to take everything at face value! There’s a man drinking wine straight from the bottle on your lawn? Well, whatever you do, don’t stop to think, “Hey, maybe that Chardonnay has a balance of both oak and steel, lending aromas of vanilla, spice and toast from the oak and apple and tropical fruit flavors from the tanks. Thank you, lonely Michigan wine evangelist, for boosting my self-esteem as a Michigander. I needed that – no, we all needed that.” No, that would be way too open-minded of you. Instead just call the cops, like everyone else!

Ugh! Makes me sick! The hypocrisy, I mean, not the St. Julian wines.

Features

2012 Braganini Reserve Chardonnay 750ml 6-Pack

Braganini Reserve Chardonnay is blended from two vineyards in Southwest Michigan. A portion of the wine is aged in oak barrels, lending aromas of vanilla, spice and toast. The other portion is fermented in stainless steel which imparts apple and tropical fruit flavors. It's the balanced creaminess and acidity that makes it fabulous. Blended together, this wine embodies all the delicious qualities of a pure Lake Michigan Shore Chardonnay!

To achieve the multi-layered complexity lees were stirred monthly for the duration of barrel aging. To preserve the vibrant acidity, only half the blend was allowed to complete malolactic fermentation and the other half remained in stainless steel until blending.

To preserve fruit flavors, grapes were harvested in the early morning hours, and then gently pressed without crushing, to avoid any harsh extractions. After cold settling, 50% of the juice was racked directly to French and Michigan oak barrels (20% new) and the balance was rack to a temperature controlled tank for primary fermentation. The barrel portion of this blend goes through malolactic fermentation, which converts malic acid to lactic acid. The stainless steel portion of this blend does not undergo malolactic fermentation, which is purposely eliminated to preserve the wonderful aromatic character and natural acidity of the wine. Blending the two styles together gives us the best Chardonnay – creamy yet crisp with hints of butter and oak with bold fruit flavors.
