Let It Be Written, Let It Be Drunk

May you be granted the strength to know what wine you should accept, and also be there to accept it when it arrives.

Consider, for a moment, the words "So Be It." These aren't the words of an aggressive alligator, fresh from the sewers to devour your family. These are the words of a peaceful and gentle type, like a wine-loving monk who also pats squirrels on the head.

And why not? Why not, we say? What's wrong with something that's gentle, delicate and elegant? That's why we love the 2009 So Be It Pinot Noir (full of cherry, strawberry and rose hips by the way) and why you're probably going to love it too. And by love, we mean that gentle kind of love that will have you snuggling up to your dog and or cat. Won't you be a cute little duo/trio by the fire?

Some wines are aggressive and dominating. But not this lovely So Be It. Substantial, yes, but never cruel. This is the sort of wine you could stand to emulate, you know.

Oh, like you forgot that time you got in a fight with your neighbor? Tell you what, this is a six pack of wine, sooo... how about you share a bottle with the people next door? Bury old grudges, make new friends? After all, your world can change as quickly as you can say "So be it."

2009 So Be It Pinot Noir 750ml 6-Pack

The 2009 So Be It Pinot Noir is delicate and elegant in style with Bing cherry, strawberry, rose hips, potpourri, floral and violet aromas. The palate has flavors of cherry, cranberry and a touch of spice wrapped in a substantial wine that, despite its delicate character, has a lingering finish.

A special project by a winemaking whiz with a reputation for squeezing the best out of grapes from Monterey to Mendocino. This was a limited run wine based on the exceptional fruit that was available for the highly touted 2009 vintage. It was released in limited markets.

Total MSRP:   $133.00

Sourced from two premier California growing regions, Edna Valley and the Sonoma Coast.

Edna Valley lies on the coastal plains south of San Luis Obispo, and a series of modest hills serve to trap the maritime influences that reach shore each day from the Pacific Ocean. Here, the cooling fog helps moderate temperatures and maintain them evenly, leading to an early bud break and extended hang-time, among the most generous in California. Where much of California’s coastal mountain ranges run north to south and form a barrier for inland regions, ranges here more often meander west to east, allowing winds and fog to reach further inland, providing an ideal climate for Pinot Noir, with a growing season that sometimes lasts 50% longer than Burgundy.

Sonoma Coast features some of California’s best Pinot Noir growing regions, including portions of the Russian River Valley and coastal areas as far north as Annapolis. The Mediterranean climate, with warm days and evenings impacted by fog drawn toward the Central Valley and Sacramento regions, produces fruit with bright acidity, structure and complex layers of flavors.

  • Edna Valley: 73%
  • Sonoma Coast: 27%
  • Alcohol: 13.9%
  • pH: 3.62
  • TA: 0.57
  • Oak:  Used French oak

Lineare (meaning lineage) is a Napa Valley-based company.   Here’s a project from a 20 year veteran winemaker with a plethora of 90+ point wines under his belt, who has spent a lot of time with the elusive Pinot Noir grape. The project was ahead of its time (or behind the recession) and enjoyed only 2 vintages.
