2014 Pinot Noir Rosé, Central Coast 750ml 2-Pack

Our 2014 Ryder Estate Pinot Noir Rosé is a medium-bodied wine with bright cherry aromas. The lively fruit flavors are framed by a crisp, balanced acidity that unfold into a smooth, elegant finish. It is a refreshing wine that is delightful as an apéritif or as an accompaniment to a wide variety of foods.

The Pinot Noir grapes for our Rosé were sourced from our estate vineyard in the cool climate zone of Monterey County, a part of California’s renowned Central Coast. The brisk conditions of this area are known for producing wines of intense varietal character and well-balanced acidity.

On the heels of a picture-perfect 2013 growing season, the 2014 vintage was another beaut. Spring came early and lasted long, with temperate conditions and ideal temperatures. Cool nights and overcast mornings followed by breezy warm afternoons made the summer months ideal for even ripening and good flavor development. At the winery, the fruit was destemmed, crushed, and fermented with select yeast at cool temperatures in stainless steel to retain the fruit esters. After fermentation, the Pinot Noir Rosé was aged in stainless steel for 6 months. In comprising the final blend, we added a small amount of Petite Sirah to provide extra depth and dimension.

2013 Chardonnay, Central Coast 750ml 2-Pack

Our 2013 Ryder Estate Chardonnay exhibits vibrant aromas of green apple and citrus peel, with subtle notes of vanilla and butter. Bright tropical fruit flavors are accented by hints of toasty oak. The lush mid-palate leads into a lingering fruit finish while still maintaining a refreshing acidity.

The grapes for our 2013 Chardonnay were sourced from our estate vineyards in Monterey County, a part of California’s renowned Central Coast. The brisk conditions of this area are known for producing wines of intense varietal character and well-balanced acidity.

On the heels of a picture-perfect 2012 growing season, the 2013 vintage was another beaut. Spring came early and lasted long, with temperate conditions and ideal temperatures. Cool nights and overcast mornings followed by breezy warm afternoons made the summer months ideal for even ripening and good flavor development. At the winery, the fruit was gently whole-cluster pressed, then chilled and lightly settled before being transferred to stainless steel tanks and slowly fermented at cool temperatures to enhance the varietal aromatics. After fermentation, a portion of the wine was aged for 8 months on French oak. We prefer a Chardonnay that blends both stainless steel and oak- aged wine, allowing an elegant balance of the beautiful cool-climate fruit flavors of Monterey and lush notes of vanilla and toast.

2013 Sauvignon Blanc, Central Coast 750ml 2-Pack

Our 2013 Ryder Estate Sauvignon Blanc has a fragrant, ripe melon aroma. It is lively and zesty on the palate, with lovely notes of citrus and grapefruit that lead into a crisp, refreshing finish.

The grapes for this wine were sourced from two of our estate vineyards in Monterey County. The majority of the blend came from our northern property that is located in the sub-appellation of Arroyo Seco. The brisk conditions of this cool climate vineyard bring grassy and citrus traits to the wine. The warmer site, located about 25 miles south, experiences warmer daytime temperatures and then cools down significantly in the late afternoon. This extra dose of warmth results in a more fruit forward wine.

The 2013 growing season was picture perfect. The spring months were temperate and uneventful, with no significant frost threats and ideal temperatures. Cool nights and overcast mornings followed by breezy warm afternoons made the summer months ideal for even ripening and good flavor development. At the winery, the fruit was gently whole-cluster pressed, then chilled and lightly settled before being transferred to stainless steel tanks and slowly fermented at cool temperatures to enhance the varietal aromatics. Stainless steel tanks provide a neutral environment that serve to accentuate the wine’s crisp, zesty qualities and retain its distinctive freshness. In comprising the final blend, we added a small amount of Semillon to bring added body and texture.
