Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.

Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

Duck Duck Piccolo

Play the game that's sweeping the nation: Piro! Piro! Piccolo!

At cocktail parties from coast to coast, there's a new game that's being played night after night. It's Piro Piro Piccolo! The game named after this 2012 Piro Piro Piccolo Pinot Grigio wine.

To play, you need at least 4 people.

You gather around in a circle and drink Piro Piro Piccolo.

Every so often, a person gets up. This person then walks behind people and taps on their heads, saying "Pico" with each head tap.

Eventually, when they feel the time is right, that person will say "Piccolo" when tapping someone's head.

When a person gets tapped on Piccolo, they get up and chase the person who was talking.

If they get the person who tapped their head before that person gets back to their spot, the chaser win! If the head-tapper gets to the spot before the chaser, the head-tapper person wins!

Then after they're done, everyone drinks Piro Piro Piccolo. To make a long story short, it's Duck Duck Goose, but you drink Piro Piro Piccolo. That's about it. But that's okay because there's a bird on the label, and a duck is a bird, so it makes perfect sense. Perfect, perfect sense.

Features

2012 Piro Piro Piccolo Pinot Grigio, Santa Barbara County 750ml 4-Pack

Piro Piro Piccolo (sandpiper bird in Italian) is a small, coastal bird found on the beaches of Central Coast California. This is a wine project between Greg Martellotto (Martellotto Cellars) and Mike Roth (Demetria Estate). The owners love to tinker in the cellar. They have made 45 days skin fermented "orange" Marsanne, 36 month barrel aged Pinot Gris, sweet Roussanne, and often blend white wine into their red wines to lift aromas and carry the mid-palette.  They allied  themselves with Sierra Madre
Vineyards to source the grapes for the Piro Piro project.

Just say the name, and you'll understand why we call these wines, "White wines that make you smile."

If you haven't seen these nutty birds at the beach, you can see a video of them here: http://piccolowines.com/

This is not a garden-variety Pinot Grigio. Made in an Italian style, it’s golden, rich, and has a wonderful mouthfeel. Green apples and lemon fruits create a lip-smacking quality. On the finish, there's also some of the richness and almond-skin character you find in the 'Gris' style. This is the finest example of California Pinot Grigio you will find.

What are Top Comments?

Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk. We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
