That's right! The complete winemaker's dozen.

Look, we're not in the bagel biz. What are ya gonna do?

Like bakers, we also want to be in the business of selling items in packs of twelve, but whenever we try to sell a dozen of something, everyone always asks, "Where's the thirteenth!? When I got my bagels this morning, there were thirteen, so where's my thirteenth bottle of wine?"

We could hang our heads in shame, but in reality, it's not our fault. We can't compete with the lavish lifestyle of the baker, rolling up in a flashy sports car, pumping pastries full of jam day in and day out.

So when you buy this case of Pedroncelli Mixed Red Wine, realize that we really would like to give you another bottle of wine, but the problem is, we're not bakers. We're just innocent wine sellers. What can we say?

Features

2012 Pedroncelli Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

An elegant, medium-bodied Pinot Noir. Aromas are floral, with violet and light cedar notes. These are followed by flavors of strawberry/ cherry with toasted oak accents. This wine has a spicy texture and the finish is nicely balanced between bright acidity and mild tannin.

Russian River Valley Sources: The fruit for our Pinot Noir comes from five growers spread over the northern Russian River Valley. The Frank Johnson Vineyard continues as a source of Pinot Noir, spanning 30 years, and is combined with four other growers, Schneider Harrich, Marcucci and P. Marcucci, all within a few miles of each other. Pinot Noir grown in the cool climate of the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County is regularly influenced by the intrusion of cooling evening fog from the Pacific Ocean a few miles to the west. This natural air-conditioning allows the grapes to develop full flavor maturity over an extended growing season while retaining the all-important natural acidity. Combined with a diverse complexity of soil types along with the vineyard sources creates a wine that reflects all the best of this growing region.

2012 Pedroncelli Merlot, Bench Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Our Merlot presents a bouquet of blackberry, red plum and hints of vanilla. Bright red fruit flavors are showcased along with black pepper notes and, in the background, some sage and toasty oak. Medium bodied with ripe tannins follow through to a lush, almost velvety finish.

Bench Vineyards: The source for our Bench Vineyards Merlot comes from selected blocks off of our vineyard located along Dry Creek Road as well as one other grower a short distance from ours. Bench Vineyards, the name chosen for this wine, describes the natural terraces that flank Dry Creek Valley and rise gradually into the steep hills. Characterized by sloped topography and gravelly/rocky residual soils, the unique growing conditions combine to bring out the best in our Merlot.

2012 Pedroncelli Cabernet Sauvignon, Three Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Rich aromas of raspberry, sage and spice highlight our Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe raspberry fruit, dried herbs and flintiness follow on the palate. The wine is framed by bright acidity and showcases the fruit with a bit of vanilla toasted oak. From a richer vintage showing firm tannins and a lingering and rounded finish. Enjoy upon release or cellar up to five more years.Estate fruit harvested from the northern reaches of Dry Creek Valley.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot were handpicked just a mile from the winery. Here these varietals develop exceptional character on the vineyard sites situated on the valley bench. The vines receive the right amount of sun and cooling fog which develops optimal flavors in the grapes. Careful vineyard management during the growing season defines our style even more.

2012 Pedroncelli Sangiovese, Alto Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Ripe plum and bing cherry along with a hint of violets highlight the aroma of our Sangiovese. Cherry and red plum flavors predominate with a touch of bright acidity defining the mouthfeel. The finish is framed by full flavor, soft tannins and medium body, making this a great choice for pairing with meals.

Vineyard Sources: This grape is known as the backbone grape of Chianti. In honor of our heritage we planted this classic Italian varietal 20 years ago seeking to add some unique wines to our line. We named the three separate sites, which are located on our home ranch, “Alto Vineyards” for the steep hillsides where the vineyards thrive. In the last few vintages, the maturity of the vines as well as the quality of the fruit from these hilltop sections is at their peak.

Specs

2012 Pedroncelli Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: 2012 brought a warm summer growing season with moderate temperatures offered ideal conditions for our Pinot Noir. Grapes were harvested mid-September showing smooth tannins, deep color and higher concentration of aromas and flavors than the past cooler vintages. The fruit was crushed and cold soaked for seven days. Fermentation took place in small stainless steel tanks. Three pump-overs were performed daily for maximum color and flavor extraction. The round, full and polished texture of this wine comes not only from the high quality fruit but also judicious use of oak—the wine was aged for 8 months in small French oak barrels with 20% new oak.

2012 Pedroncelli Merlot, Bench Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaker Notes: Grapes were harvested the second week of September following a great growing season with moderate temperatures. The fruit showed intense color, riper tannins and the right amount of natural acidity from ripening evenly over the course of the summer. The grapes were crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Daily pumpovers during the fermentation gives a substantial increase in flavor and color. The young wine was transferred to small American oak barrels to age for 12 months in order to develop smoothness and complexity giving it a subtle backbone of oak components.

  • Barrel Aging: 12 months in American Oak
  • Alcohol 14.1%
  • pH 3.49

2012 Pedroncelli Cabernet Sauvignon, Three Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: The grapes were harvested over the first two weeks of October from a textbook perfect vintage bringing in grapes with good acidity, concentrated aromas and flavors. The fruit was crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Periodic pump-overs of the cap during fermentation gives the young wine a substantial increase of flavor, tannin and color.

Our Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 70% American oak barrels for twelve months in order to develop smoothness and complexity. An additional 30% was aged in new French oak to provide a subtle backbone of vanilla and toasted oak highlights. Blending in Cabernet Franc and a small portion of Petite Verdot adds depth and the integrated flavors between the three varietals show optimum richness and balance.

2012 Pedroncelli Sangiovese, Alto Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: The 2012 vintage included a textbook perfect growing season as well as harvest. The conditions allowed slow ripening which led to enhanced flavors, bright acidity and well-integrated tannins. The vineyard blocks were hand-picked the final week of September. The fruit from the three sections was crushed together creating a site-blend and transferred to stainless steel tanks where the juice was cold fermented for 10 days. The cap was pumped over periodically to enhance the color, flavor and intensity in the wine.

The wine was aged in neutral American oak barrels for twelve months and developed additional smoothness and complexity through this process. We age the wine in seasoned barrels for less astringency which is associated with this grape and in turn will not overpower the balance in the finished wine.

  • Appellation: Dry Creek Valley, Estate Vineyards
  • Barrel Aging: 12 months in American Oak
  • Alcohol: 14.1%
  • pH 3.43
  • Total Acidity: .690g/100mg
