Features

2007 Syrah, Pear Valley Vineyard 750ml

The inky purple color showcases the intensity of the 2007 vintage.  A powerful nose of boysenberry and plum, cedar, mushroom and saddle leather with accents of blueberry cobbler is reflected on the palate.  Deftly balancing bright berry fruit with forest floor earthiness, this wine exemplifies what a ripe and balanced Syrah should be. This will be a memorable vintage as it develops over the next 5-6 years.

2009 Inspiration, Estate Bottled 750ml

Astounding nose of strawberries and chocolate, with vanilla, toffee and subtle undertones of truffle oil. Bright and juicy, silky smooth, the flavors and textures are reminiscent of eating a strawberry and rhubarb cream pie. The marriage of Syrah and Grenache is honeymooning at Pear Valley. Elegant, harmonious, and simply delicious.

2009 Grenache 750ml

A rich and vibrant nose redolent of strawberries, cocoa, and cinnamon toast segue into cherry, cranberry and cedar. Juicy and zesty on the palate with rhubarb, strawberry and vanilla flavors highlighted by ginger and nutmeg spice.  Gorgeous fuchsia/garnet in color, medium bodied with an ethereal texture, this wine finishes with dried berry and sassafras notes that are unforgettable.

A textbook, near perfect vintage.  A cool, wet spring delayed budbreak while providing ample moisture for the first flush of root growth when the vines did awaken mid April. A warm dry May precluded any frost damage, and June stayed steadily cool while the growing shoots received plenty of sunshine, allowing for uniform canopy growth. By July, the vines all had a healthy complement of leaves as the first of the summer heat was upon us. The remainder of the season saw temperatures remain fairly even and consistent which promoted balanced ripening throughout the vineyard.  The resulting wines will bear this out.
