A powerful nose of boysenberry and plum, cedar, mushroom and saddle leather with accents of blueberry cobbler is reflected on the palate. Deftly balancing bright berry fruit with forest floor earthiness, this wine exemplifies what a ripe and balanced Syrah should be. This will be a memorable vintage as it develops over the next 5-6 years.

The 2007 vintage was preceded by a cold and very dry winter. The lack of groundwater during budbreak resulted in substantially reduced yields and berry size. A moderately warm summer with few heat spikes allowed steady, even ripening producing fruit of tremendous intensity and concentration.
