2002 Parducci Family Petite Sirah, Mendocino County 750ml 2-Pack

Parducci Wine Cellars was one of California’s first bottlers of a varietal Petite Sirah. It’s been a hallmark wine for the winery and Mendocino County. The 2002 Petite Sirah has a dense, opaque purple/black color and aromas of black cherry, plum and black pepper, with hints of leather and oak spice.

Vintage: For Petite Sirah, the long, warm 2002 growing season ended perfectly: with a heat wave that put this beefy variety over the top in ripeness. Cool temperatures and slow ripening throughout the summer allowed the grapes to reach maturity without any overripe character. When the September heat hit the North Coast, sugar levels rose rapidly, and the grapes had already developed intense flavors. Our Petite Sirah ended up balanced and approachable, without the higher alcohol levels that some red wines developed.

Vineyards: Petite Sirah has been growing in popularity for some time, and we now have to look to vineyards outside of Mendocino County to satisfy the demand. The 2003 vintage is blended from grapes grown in the warm northern San Joaquin Valley (65%) around Lodi, and older, established Mendocino County vineyards (35%).

Food Pairings: Enjoy this heritage wine at family gatherings with grass-fed or free-range beef, barbecued ribs, mushroom ravioli and flavorful cheeses.

2003 Parducci Family Petite Sirah, Mendocino County 750ml 2-Pack

Parducci Wine Cellars was one of California’s first bottlers of a varietal Petite Sirah. It has been a hallmark of the winery and Mendocino County ever since. Deep blackberry in both color and flavor, an almost spritzy white-flower bouquet counterbalances the characteristically ‘brooding’ framework of brambly blackberry and dried cherry aromas. Full flavors of sweet ripe fruit and cocoa are complemented by supple tannins and a note of cleansing mint. This is the perfect wine for anything with equal heft: tri-tip, crisp roasted duck, stuffed eggplant rolls, venison stew.

Vintage 2003: Wild, wet weather marked the 2003 harvest. A late spring delayed early grape development, but hot temperatures, followed by a long, mild summer, lengthened the growing
season and allowed the grapes to reach full maturity. Concentration of fruit fl avors, especially in red wines, was exceptional.

Vineyard: Petite Sirah has been growing in popularity for some time. The 2003 vintage features fruit from older, well-established Mendocino County vineyards.

Gold Medal - Orange County Fair

Our Petite Sirah as deep blackberry and dried cherry aromas and flavors. Enjoy this full-flavored dry red wine with grilled steak, roast duck, or venison stew.

Petite Sirah is a Mendocino specialty, and Parducci was one of the first wineries to bottle this varietal. Dark ruby in color, with aromas of cherry, blackberry, mint and chocolate, this big red’s spicy dark fruit flavors pair well with marinated tri-tip, mushroom risotto, and hearty stews.
Parducci is locally owned and operated in California's Mendocino County. We are committed to Sustainable Winegrowing practices that yield top quality grapes and wines while protecting the environment and supporting our communities and local farmers.
