2011 Vineyard Series Mosaic Red Wine, Wahluke Slope, Washington 750ml 4-Pack
Double Gold Medal & Best of Class - 2014 Tri-Cities Wine Festival
Double Gold Medal - North Central Washington Wine Awards
The 2011 Vineyard Series Mosaic has aromas of blackberry jam, boysenberry and wet stone. Hints of clove, dried herbs, and anise give way to a generous fruit-driven fore palate. Round chewy tannins on the midpalate accentuate the long rich finish.
Words from the Winemaker: Our Vineyards Series Mosaic is styled after wines from the southern Rhone region of France. This artful blend of Grenache and Syrah brings out the best qualities in these two classic varietals. Grenache offers bright rich berry aromas while the Syrah adds density to the midpalate; complementing each other and adding complexity and depth to this delicious wine.
Wine is an expression of place: We created our Vineyard Series with the idea that each wine be handcrafted to reveal the unique characteristics of our estate vineyards on the Wahluke Slope. With rigorous vineyard management and meticulous winemaking, we highlight the singularity of each individual vineyard. Established in 2006, the Wahluke Slope AVA has gained a reputation as a premier grape growing area known for its long sunny days, cool nights and distinctive terroir. The Milbrandt family is among the pioneers of this region, producing wines of typicity with rich complexity and textural elegance.
Vineyard: Our Mosaic comes from our Clifton and Katherine Leone vineyards on the Wahluke Slope. The climate here is one of the warmest in the state; hot enough during the day to fully ripen grapes, yet cool enough at night to ensure bright acids and firm tannins. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre thrive in these types of conditions, which also aid in the development of the complex flavor profiles that we get in our Mosaic.

Farming is in our blood. Our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles all made their living working the land. Eastern Washington is in our blood. We came here as young children and have always called it home. When we planted our first vines in 1997 we were entering uncharted territory. Today, we farm 12 distinct estate vineyard sites totaling more than 2,500 acres. Our grapes are purchased by some of the most prestigious wineries in the state. Our own winery, launched in 2005, produces highly-individualistic wines from our estate and neighboring vineyards.
We were very careful about matching the right variety to the right site. Our goal was to be the best growers in the state. From the start, demand for our grapes was immediate and overwhelming.
As farmers, there is nothing more satisfying than controlling the quality and style of your product from start to finish. In June of 2007 we launched the Milbrandt Vineyards label.
