2012 Full Moon Blend, Paso Robles
Beautifully clean, ripe, and fruity in the nose. Red fruits abound as the wine greets your palate. A wonderfully balanced mouthfeel leads to an amazing array of flavors. Ripe red raspberry, spice and plum cascade about the tongue. The wine finishes fresh and fruity. This is our shut up please be quiet and drink it wine. Don't study it, don't age it.

This was a uniformly excellent vintage in Paso Robles. The weather was storybook, almost entirely positive. Warm days and cool nights made for a relatively dry season. From July 18th to October 10th, there were 85 consecutive days with clear, blue skies. Once the grapes were optimally ripe, showing great acidity and structure, they were handpicked, table sorted, and fermented.

2011 Estate Merlot, Willow Creek District, Paso Robles
90 Points, Vinous
Silver Medal, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition

The wine is big, bold, and beautiful. The color is a dark garnet and the nose is a powerful array of blackberries, minerals and currant. With offerings of dark fruit flavors and a bold structure, this Merlot shows complexity and focus. Our Merlot is not Cabernet Sauvignon's little brother; he's 100% in charge. Drink now through 2018.

Unlike most years in Paso Robles, 2011 was unseasonably cool with small yields and a late harvest. We started the year with a heavy frost on April 7th, which significantly shrank yields on nearly every vineyard in Paso Robles. The cool weather continued into the season with more moisture than normal. With the vintage dominated by different types of weather, mother nature saved the harvest with a very sunny October.

Food Pairing: A prime cut of Rib Eye Steak with Au Gratin Potatoes

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon "Nebula", Paso Robles
This Cabernet Sauvignon is classically earthy with bright notes of cherries, black currants and purple flowers. The distinct palate of cassis and a mix of red and black fruits are balanced with supple notes of vanilla and spice. The body is medium to full and will finish with the elegance of fine, youthful and silky tannins. The components are a balance of well-toned fruit, acidity and structure. Drink now through 2020.

This was a uniformly excellent vintage for Paso Robles. 2012 marked a return to a more classic Paso Robles style growing season when compared to the previous two years. A dry spring led into a hot summer and a dry harvest. Starting in mid-July, there were 85 consecutive sunny days with clear, blue skies. These idyllic conditions resulted in powerful and concentrated fruit.

Food Pairing: Veal Scallopini with Porcini Mushrooms in Bordelaise

2012 Estate Zinfandel, Willow Creek District, Paso Robles
Gold Medal, Central Coast Wine Competition
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
89 Points,  Vinous

This wine is ruby red in color with aromas of raspberries, cherries and blueberries, and a supple body that has just the right amount of jamminess. You will find this Zinfandel has notes of zesty candied peaches in the mid palate and great acidity. The finish will leave you with ripe plum, white pepper and dusty tannins. Drink now through 2022.

Midnight Cellars

Founded:
1995
Owner:
The Hartenberger Family
Location:
Paso Robles, California

The Hartenberger family began Midnight Cellars in May 1995. The idea had sprung from a family vacation to Northern California wine country. While sipping wine and overlooking a beautiful valley, the fateful comment was made: “Hey Dad, you should buy a winery when you retire, and we’ll run it for you!” Two years later, when Dad’s retirement became a reality, the winery idea resurfaced and became an actuality. The family members sold their Chicago homes and converged on Paso Robles where they started their dream. Mary Jane and Robert Hartenberger moved their family to Paso Robles, California in 1995, with the pursuit of growing grapes and making wine; the outcome, Midnight Cellars Winery. Their 160 acre ranch, in the western hills of Paso, is now home to three generations of Hartenbergers. Include Midnight Cellars as a destination in your next Paso Robles
