Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.
Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.
Even though his brother was a big shot in the household cleaning products industry, McClean wanted to do something different.
Not wanting to take up the family business, McClean decided to start a winery instead.
In 2005, after packing up his things and moving to Paso Robles, McClean's quest got underway. Quickly, he developed a batch of Syrah, filled with rich aromas of blackberry, raspberry, and gentle oak overtones. It only took a quick sniff of his new batch of wine for him to know he was meant to be a winemaker.
A couple years later, in 2007, McClean developed a new bottle of wine. This time, he put in flavors of ripe, red cherry and a hit of strawberry. Once again, the wine was delicious.
As he tasted the fruits of his labor, McClean realized that he was a wine man, not a cleaning man, and he's stayed a wine man ever since.
This wine is full-bodied but really managed to maintain an elegant mouthfeel. It will certainly compete with just about any Syrah of the same age, regardless of place. The wine has defined red fruit on the palate, but it's much more lush and less oxidative than with the 2006. Rather than sour red cherry, you get tons of ripe, fresh red cherry, as well as a hint of strawberry on the nose and palate. This is a wine that will work with food, but will be much more appealing to those who want to drink wine without the presence of food.
McClean Vineyards' 2005 Syrah sips well with any type of menu. Rich aromas of blackberry, raspberry and gentle oak overtones. Generous currants and purple plum fruits yield nicely. On the palate it is delicate and smooth with crisp, lingering finish. It pairs well with all types of occasions from backyard barbecues to the elegant dining experiences.
McClean Vineyards produces a very hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind, estate private reserve Syrah that has been featured in Sunset Magazine and highly rated among many top aficionados.
Besides being an excellent winemaker, Michael is one of Vietnam's most decorated war heroes. A California Vietnam veteran, Michael has a profound appreciation for the returning veteran's challenges from today's conflicts in the Middle East. Not only was Michael a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross he also received a Silver Star and Purple Heart.
To help these returning veterans he has decided to donate 10% of all proceeds from wine purchases to help the rehabilitation of our returning soldiers through the Armed Forces Foundation. Therefore, when you purchase McClean Vineyards' wines, not only will you be doing your customers a great favor but also you are helping our returning heroes.

What are Top Comments?
Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk.
We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
