Do you see a pattern?

"Kaleidos" sounds like some kind of mythical titan or something. Is he the one who gave humans wine or something? Maybe he gave us refracted light in little tubes.

It turns out he didn't do either. I mean, it turns out "Kaleidos" is the name of a shop that sold Kaleidoscopes. A little too on the nose if you ask me, but whatevs. You might think of a kaleidoscope as you enjoy this 2006 Kaleidos Morpheus GSM Blend 4-Pack, what with all the flavors bouncing and swirling around your mouth like so much light in a looking glass.

Okay, that was kinda cheesy, but you get the idea. Blended wine. Blended flavors. All the colors of the rainbow, so long as they're red.

Besides, a glass of wine is better than some long, drawn-out morality play involving a bunch of mythical people whose names you can't pronounce.

2006 Morpheus GSM Blend 750ml 4-Pack

Morpheus is rich and full-bodied, with no hard edges. It has good freshness as well as enough grip and structure to provide precision and definition. It has loads of dark fruits, spiced berry cobbler and chocolate with a long dark cherry and blueberry finish.

Fermentation: When the fruit is brought in it is gently destemmed into small open top fermenters. The berries are then allowed to cold soak for 2-5 days before being inoculated with yeast. Once the fermentation begins the cap is gently punched down by hand or the juice is “pumped over” using gravity. The fermentation lasts between 5 to 15 days. After the free run is drained down into barrels the must is then gently pressed directly into separate barrels.

Steve Martell
Location:
Paso Robles, CA
Kaleidos is my passion, encompassing many elements of my life, including my love of family, Rhône varietal wines, and the rolling hills of west Paso Robles.

This project came about after I spent time working for both Clos Pepe Vineyards in Santa Rita Hills and Summerwood Winery here in Paso Robles. I learned much from winemakers like Wes Hagan and Scott Hawley, and ultimately decided to forge my own path. I bought 24 acres of beautiful westside Paso Robles property in 2004, parked my Airstream trailer, and rolled up my sleeves. I have planted about 2500 vines on a little more than an acre and have five more acres to cover. It’s slow going, but it’s important to me that this work gets done to my exacting sustainable standards, as I plan to be here for a long time.

The Kaleidos label is named for a shop my mother had when I was young, where she sold kaleidoscopes and other works of art. The name resonates with me personally, but also relates directly to my wines. As the light and colors of a kaleidoscope come together to create unique images, the vines here combine the elements of soil and sunlight to develop distinctive fruit characteristics.
The consistent attention to detail can be tasted with just one memorable sip. I welcome you to experience the fruit of my passion in a bottle. Kaleidos wine is available for tasting at the tasting room I share with Changala Winery located at 3770 Willow Creek Road just 0.3 miles off of Vineyard Drive. Dog and family friendly.

Cheers!
