2012 Judson Hale Winery Pinot Noir, Walsh Ranch,Yorkville Highlands, Mendocino County

The 2012 Judson Hale Walsh Ranch Pinot Noir is a well-balanced, medium bodied wine with complex aromas of dark cherries, plum and strawberry.

The Walsh Ranch Vineyard was planted in 1995 on a 10114 rootstock and 667 clones. The vineyard is at a fifteen-hundred-foot elevation in Yorkville. The coastal influence and elevation, producing cool nights and warm days, along with the shallow alluvial soil, allow for the well-balanced fruit that is shown in our wine.

The wine is produced in small lot fermentation in open top stainless steel fermentors for 14 days. The wine is refined in 100% French oak barrels (Francois Frère; Allier Forest with a medium toast).
