2012 Judd's Hill Tardy Harvest Rousanne, 375ml 2-Pack

This exotic dessert wine was made from Roussanne that was left to hang on the vine until mid November. Ideal conditions allowed for the growth of Botrytis cinerea, which dehydrates the fruit and concentrates its sugars, producing unique aromas and honeyed fruit flavors. Often referred to as the "Noble Rot", Botrytis is rare and highly prized when making a "late harvest" wine.

Vintage: "Classic" and "perfect" are just two words being used to describe the 2012 Sierra Foothills growing season and harvest. A near ideal spring bud break, steady flowering and even fruit-set were supported by a lengthy stretch of warm days coupled with cool as well as foggy nights. The mild microclimate allowed this low-yielding varietal to ripen slowly, gradually revealing the bright fruit and exotic spice flavors.

Embracing the prolonged Indian summer, we extended the hang time which allowed for mature ripening and beautifully balanced acidity.

Wine Description: A vibrant golden in color, this Roussanne entices the senses with aromas of white peach, nectarine and star fruit. As the wine opens up, nuances of dried apricots, mango and honeysuckle permeate the glass. The mouth is bright and vivacious with flavors of ripe pear, nectarine and wild flower honey. Firm acidity provides a clean, crisp finish of citrus and peach. Delightfully balanced, this “tardy harvest” wine is our way of saying “Cheers!” from our family to yours.

2006 Judd's Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 375ml 2-Pack

In this wine, you will experience the fruit forward power and concentration that has made Napa synonymous with Cabernet.  We balance this new-world fruit with old-world wine making, using mostly neutral French oak barrels and minimal oxygenation.  The result is a wine full of dark fruit and earthy aromas.  It is rich with flavors of ripe plum and cassis, and hints of caramel and vanilla.  The finish is long, and supported by smooth, fine-grained tannins.

Vineyard: The Judd’s Hill Estate vineyard continues to provide half of the fruit for our Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.  This steeply terraced, hillside vineyard produces clusters with intense fruit flavors, concentrated aromas and a deep extraction of color.  Our estate fruit is supported and enhanced by fruit harvested from two amazing vineyards in the Stags Leap District and Oakville.

Vintage: 2006 was a dramatic vintage for grape growing in the Napa Valley, with a deluge of wet weather bringing in the new year.  Napa’s long and rainy winter was followed by a mild summer interrupted by a two-week heat wave in July.  As the growing season drew to a close, cooler temperatures returned, allowing the grapes to slowly develop complex, nuanced flavors while maintaining acidity; all while brix readings marched steadily upward.  At harvest time, we were delighted to find that phenolic maturity and physical (sugar) ripeness were in perfect alignment with our winemaking vision.
