Pony Up That Wine

A gift horse for many occasions.

Your friends are throwing a dinner party, and you want to bring a gift as a contribution to the party. You settle on a gift horse, because, you figure, who doesn't like horses?

Well, you have two possibilities:

1) Bring an actual horse.

2) Bring a bottle of this Iron Horse Summer's Cuvée.

Now, we admittedly have a bias because we're selling the Iron Horse Summer's Cuvée right now, but honestly, all biases aside, we do think your friends will appreciate the wine more.

Rather than having a large animal prancing through their home, crashing china to the ground, you get aromas of nasturtium flower, orange blossom, and sliced oranges accompanying the flavor of lime and strawberry. Maybe you prefer the path of dining room destruction, but if not, we consider the wine to be a pretty nice option.

Oh, and if you want, you can look this gift horse in the mouse all you want, though, we're not really sure where that'd be...

Features

2009 Summer’s Cuvée 750ml 2-Pack

This unique, seasonal, vintage cuvée was created expressly for Iron Horse wine club members, visitors to the Iron Horse tasting room and for special gifts. Perfect for celebrating long days and starry nights. A taste of Summer.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings: By nose: Nasturtium flower, orange blossom, sliced orange and yeast. By mouth: crisp and bright; Rangpur lime, strawberry, with a long and refreshing finish.

Summer’s Cuvée is a special expression of Iron Horse's Blanc de Noirs blend. In blending this wine they chose Pinot Noir lots that are extremely expressive and fruit forward. Then in a decided step away from convention, they blend in a bit of steely Chardonnay to add a firm acid backbone. Hand harvested in the chill of early morning their Pinot Noir is gently pressed as whole clusters. The juice slowly ferments in stainless steel tanks at 62° to 65° f retaining bright fruit aromas and flavors in the wine. The dosage for the 2009 Summer’s Cuvée is 42mls of a 10 Brix Chardonnay LEX - the equivalent of ten grams of sugar per 100 ml of wine, blended with the 2011 Rued Chardonnay.

Serve with al fresco dining favorites - heirloom tomato panzanella with lots of fresh basil, a plate of shaved prosciutto di Parma and cantaloupe melon, grilled lemon chicken with a nutty quinoa salad or an ahi tuna salade Nicoise.

Joy from Iron Horse introduces her Summer's Cuvée and calls it the “essence of summer”.
