Pony Up That Wine

A gift horse for many occasions.

Your friends are throwing a dinner party, and you want to bring a gift as a contribution to the party. You settle on a gift horse, because, you figure, who doesn't like horses?

Well, you have two possibilities:

1) Bring an actual horse.

2) Bring a bottle from this Iron Horse Celebrate Summer box o' sparkles.

Now, we admittedly have a bias because we're selling the Iron Horse Celebrate Summer box o' sparkles right now, but honestly, all biases aside, we do think your friends will appreciate the wine more.

Rather than having a large animal prancing through their home, crashing china to the ground, you get aromas of stuff like green and red apples, toast and hazelnuts accompanying the flavor of lime and dark red cherries. Maybe you prefer the path of dining room destruction, but if not, we consider the wine to be a pretty nice option.

Oh, and if you want, you can look this gift horse in the mouse all you want, though, we're not really sure where that'd be...

Features

2009 Ocean Reserve Sparkling, Blanc de Blancs 750ml

The 2009 Ocean Reserve is a special, limited edition, vintage Blanc de Blancs, commemorating National Geographic’s 125th Anniversary. Iron Horse gives $4 a bottle to National Geographic’s Ocean Initiative, establishing marine protected areas and supporting sustainable fishing practices around the globe.

By nose: Green apple, honeysuckle, lime and autolysed yeast.

By mouth: Lime, green apple, honeysuckle and hazelnut. In the spirit of supporting ocean conservancy, best food pairings focus on seafood.

  • Deemed a “best choice” on the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program.

2011 Fairy Tale Celebration Cuvée 750ml

By nose, beautiful fresh baked bread with green and ripe red apples. By taste, red apples, spice and lime zest in the finish. Fairy Tale Cuvée’s predominantly Pinot Noir backbone stands up to an array of culinary delights. Crab salad with Pink Lady apple slaw would highlight the wine’s ripe red apple notes. Asian flavors would be very appealing. A cheese plate of hard, soft and blue cheeses would be fun to explore.

Fairy Tale Celebration Cuvée is without doubt the most celebratory and magical of our Sparklings. Made from predominantly Pinot Noir, this vintage is elegant, complex and rich, perfect as an aperitif, with a meal or as a night cap. Available exclusively at Disney parks and resorts and on board the cruise ships ... and occasionally special friends.

2009 Brut X 750ml

The 2009 Brut X is extremely dry, extremely bright and extremely expressive. The dosage is “sugar free” but still adds complexity and polish.

By nose: toast, ripe red apple and hazelnut.

By mouth: ripe red apple and lime with a hint of dark red cherry. A perfect sipping wine, ideally paired with briny hors d'oeuvres such as smoked salmon on potato cakes, fresh oysters with mignonette or poached shrimp with remoulade sauce.

2011 Fairy Tale Celebration Cuvée 750ml

Artisanal Winemaking: Fairy Tale Celeberation Cuvée is our interpretation of a Blanc de Noirs. In blending this wine we choose Pinot Noir lots that are extremely expressive and fruit forward (including some lots originally intended for our Brut Rosé). Then in a decided step away from convention, we blend in a bit of steely Chardonnay to add a firm acid backbone. Hand harvested in the chill of early morning our Pinot Noir is gently pressed as whole clusters. The juice slowly ferments in stainless steel tanks at 62° to 65° f retaining bright fruit aromas and flavors in the wine. The unique dosage for the 2011 Fairy Tale Celebration is 6ml Brut LEX.
