We're like your very own Pliny.
So here's something awesome: The Hahn family has a ranch in Kenya, and your purchases of this wine help them contribute to the populations and threatened ecosystems living in Kenya. - Aimless Warthog
- Serval
- Suni
- SUNY

Features
Vibrant purple in the glass, this Merlot’s aromatics recall ripe plums and violets. On the palate, fine grained tannins frame flavors of cassis, crushed blackberry and rich cacao. A balance of natural acidity and firm tannins give this wine a dry and full finish.
The Cooney Vineyard sits 900 feet above sea level on the border between Sonoma’s Alexander Valley and Chalk Hill appellations. The combination of the volcanic soils and relatively warm daytime temperatures gives fruit from this vineyard intensity in color, tannins and ripeness. Once crushed and fermented, this wine was aged in predominately neutral French oak for 15 months, which rounds its presence on the palate lends additional flavors without softening the tannins or replacing the fruit character with oak character.

Growing Season: 2011 proved to be among the more challenging vintages in recent years with Sonoma County experiencing several rain storms throughout the harvest season. The Cooney vineyard sits on a plateau above the fog line, giving it more exposure to morning sunlight than in the valley floor and a warmer microclimate. These factors allowed the grapes of the Cooney vineyard to reach full ripeness before a major rain storm in early October.

- The Hahn Family
Huntington wines are a reflection of the worldly and generous nature of the Hahn Family. With roots on three continents, Nicolaus “Nicky” and Gaby Hahn reside part-time in Northern Kenya, Africa where they own Mugie Ranch (mugie.org), home to a school, farm and wildlife preserve. Sales of Huntington wines benefit the Mugie Ranch Scholarship Fund for higher education of Kenyan children
The Hahn’s passion for the land and local culture extends beyond their California wine business to their property in Kenya. Here they build classrooms, support a school they established and assist the community, while protecting and nourishing the rich native culture, environment and endangered wildlife of this “vanishing landscape.”
It is in Kenya, that Gaby Hahn’s (gabyhahn.org) colorful artwork, which mirrors the place, comes to life. Her poignant view and love of the native people and wildlife that live on Mugie Ranch provide a rare glimpse into this remote and private world. Every bottle of Huntington wine bears an artist-series label featuring one of Gaby Hahn’s paintings. Like the Kenyan experience, the Huntington wines appeal to the senses and reflect the vibrancy of life. Founded in 1988, today Huntington wines are part of the Hahn Family Wines portfolio, continuing the tradition and reputation for wines that exceed quality expectations from some of the best appellations in California.
Huntington wines are created by the winemaking team of Kerry Damskey and Barry Gnekow. Their combined experience and connections provide insight and flexibility to secure the best fruit from top vineyards, which result in various varieties and blends of small wine lots crafted with very close attention to detail. Huntington wines have a pleasing signature style: complex, uniquely identifiable, refined, elegant and understated. Sales of Huntington wines benefit the Mugie Ranch Scholarship Fund.
