Stare Upon Our Wines

All that aside... wine drinkers are a rare breed, aren't they? On the one hand, they enjoy the taste and flavors of a variety of wines. On the other hand, they generally despise the taste and flavors of an entirely different variety of wines. How can you keep the two lists apart? How can you make ALL wine drinkers happy?

Pffft. That pipe dream will never happen. The closest we can get is an endless parade of wine. Hopefully, something you like will show up before you storm off in anger, cursing our name and demanding that we're pressed into service with the consortium of Wine Pirates that secretly sale the Nine Seas.

Oh, you didn't know about the two secret seas? Gee. Forget we said anything about them, then. Guess they're only for the COOL people.

Features

2007 Block Collection Kuimelis 750ml

The vibrant purple color of the wine is the first indication of its hillside origins and hints at the rich, layered flavors to come. Aromas of cigar box, pan forte, and a whiff of moral mushroom create further interest on the nose. The first sip is a riot of earth-driven flavors ranging from Turkish coffee to macerated olive to cocoa powder and cedar. These robust characters are followed by a rush of bright fruit including crushed strawberry, briar berries, and black cherry. The tannins are soft on the entry and finish firmly indicating that this vintage should age well over the next 3 to 4 years.

2008 Block Collection Kuimelis 750ml

Dense and foresty on the nose with subtle oak and earthy spice our 2008 Kuimelis Cabernet Sauvignon displays rich mountain tannins, cocoa flavors, and tobacco notes.  Flavors of smoky caramel complement plum and blackberry fruit but the fruit notes take second chair to the dominant savory layers making this a great alternative to more fruit-driven wines and a delightful end of meal wine.  The wine is already showing some intriguing bottle complexity and nuance making it an enticing partner to grilled meats and winter vegetables.  For optimal enjoyment drink now through 2014.

Accolade Wines
Location:
Geyersville, CA
One of California’s oldest and most award-winning wineries, Geyser Peak was founded in 1880, a pioneer of the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. Perched on a hillside across from Geyser Peak Mountain, this beautiful setting overlooks Geyserville, the Russian River and the northern end of Alexander Valley.

A long heritage of winemaking with a relatively recent resurgence, Geyser Peak Winery's roots in Sonoma County winemaking run deep. Founded by Augustus Quitzow, one of Sonoma County's pioneer winemakers, the original winery was built in Geyserville in 1882. Perched on a hillside across from Geyser Peak Mountain, the winery claimed a view of the clouds of thermal steam that billowed from the mountain's summit.

Today, Geyser Peak is one of the most award-winning wineries in Sonoma County.  It consistently garners some of the most prestigious awards in winemaking, including Winery of the Year and Winemaker of the Year honors. Its outstanding team of winemakers and viticulturalists are noted for fruit-forward, food-friendly wines from prime vineyard sources in the Alexander Valley.
