The Legendary Geyser
Past the deep dark forest, and along the old caverns is a clearing in the glen where there lies a powerful geyser.
Now this geyser isn't your ordinary geyser. You see, every night at midnight, it erupts to towering heights, shooting into the sky, over many horizons.
Alongside the geyser is a tower. Climbing up the tower is a perilous adventure. There are skeletons and goblins and wraiths waiting for you, and booby traps line the corridors. After defeating the seven snakehounds that guard the door to the top, you find yourself on the roof where there is a single empty glass bottle.
If you get there before midnight, you won't have to wait long. When the geyser erupts, hold your bottle out, and then you will receive a bountiful gift. You will have just captured the finest wine, a wine rich with berry flavor: the Geyser Peak Block Collection Merlot.
"No, I'm sorry, but that doesn't make any sense."
Of course it does.
"No, Geyser Peak Merlot comes from grapes in a vineyard in Alexander Valley. It's then cold-soaked for three days prior to a seven-day fermentation period. Then it begins an aging process in French oak barrels for 20 months."
I don't think so...
"I do."
Are you sure?
"Yes."
Oh.
Features
Red and black fruits mingle in this wine making it a berry compote of a Merlot. Blackberry and raspberry flavors dominate and pair beautifully with notes of plum jam. Earthy accents of sage and roasted coffee beans add interest and complexity to the abundant fruit. The heavy duty tannins create a framework worthy of a hearty steak but have been tamed to a silky texture through aging in small French oak barrels.
Concentrated blueberry fruit comprises the foundation of this wine and mingles with crushed bramble berry fruit on both the nose and palate. This rich Merlot has a velvety texture, medium-bodied tannins and a weighty mouthfeel. Aging in French oak tames the more aggressive tannins and adds sweet creamy notes reminiscent of crème brulee and panna cotta. A subtle back note of sage serves to ground the opulent fruit and brings focus to the finish. The hearty structure of this wine will be further tamed with a few years of cellaring.

The J & J Fay Merlot was cold-soaked for three days prior to a seven-day fermentation. At dryness the wine was drained directly off skins into French Oak to immediately begin the aging process. Completion of malolactic fermentation in oak produced a lovely texture on the palate and integrated the earth and herb flavors into the fruit at an early stage. 20 months of barrel age have softened the wine and make it delightfully drinkable upon release.

A long heritage of winemaking with a relatively recent resurgence, Geyser Peak Winery's roots in Sonoma County winemaking run deep. Today, Geyser Peak is one of the most award-winning wineries in Sonoma County. It consistently garners some of the most prestigious awards in winemaking, including Winery of the Year and Winemaker of the Year honors. Its outstanding team of winemakers and viticulturalists are noted for fruit-forward, food-friendly wines from prime vineyard sources in the Alexander Valley.
