The 2008 Red Wine g3 is a full bodied wine with deep garnet color and a lavish richness. Flavors of cherry and dark fruit combine with tobacco, vanilla and toasty oak notes to create a round intense mouth feel with a long soft finish.

Acclaimed winemaker Charlie Hoppes has his pick of the vineyard. Fermenting and aging wines in small lots from a handful of blocks carefully selected for their exceptional character and complexity is exactly what the Monsons had in mind for Goose Ridge when they founded the winery in 1999. The 2008 growing season started three weeks late with a delayed bud break due to a cooler than normal springtime. However, once it warmed up in late spring and early summer an extended period of excellent weather through July and August allowed the vines to catch up to the point that harvest was only delayed by one week over a normal year. In September it cooled slightly to allow a gentle ripening, preserving the natural acidity in the grapes and developing concentrated flavors. Aged for 18 months in French & American oak barrels this wine is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Syrah and 24% Merlot.
