Robots Can Have Hands, Too
These three bottles of 2008 Everette Ridge Estate Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley, are most certainly crafted by hand, away from some overly-mechanized assembly line. But “hand crafted” doesn’t mean they’re just squeezing each grape between their fingers or something. Nor does it mean they harvest the corks from tiny little cork trees, blow the glass for the bottles, create their own ink for the labels or haul the wine to your door in little carts they themselves pull. They’re artisans, yes, but they’re not idiots.
What this family-run winery DOES do is take pride in every bottle they sell. When you drink these Dry Creek aromas of black pepper, clove, star anise and cardamom, you’ll know they didn’t just happen by accident. They happened because a family cared enough to put them there, bottle by bottle, in a way that few other wineries bother to learn.
So, yes, they AREN’T making their wines by candlelight in a long wooden hall where an old man works the bellows from sunup to sunset. But if THAT’S the kind of wine you want… what the hell is wrong with you? Let that poor old man sleep in, you jerkface! Just drink a 2008 Everette Ridge Estate Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley! Sheesh!
