Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.
Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.
Oh, those Mondavis, too modest to plaster their name all over the place.
But misapprehend ye not: Emblem is a Michael Mondavi jam, with his son and head winemaker Rob and daughter Dina pitching in to carry the family legacy forward another generation. Michael, of course, ran his dad Robert's legendary Napa winery for ten years before launching Michael Mondavi Family Estate, whence Emblem issues forth.
It's not all about the pedigree, of course. The dry 2008 growing season gave this Cabernet concentrated yet nuanced flavors of cherry, dark berry, toasted vanilla, and coffee that pair well with grilled meats and strong cheeses. Strictly speaking, you don't need four generations of winemaking tradition to craft a Cab this superb - but it sure doesn't hurt.
2008 Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 750ml 4-Pack
Napa Valley’s 2008 growing season was dramatic, but resulted in excellent quality fruit with great flavor concentration. A very dry spring caused buds to emerge early and, thus, experience an extended frost in late March and early April, which significantly cut the crop. The early vine development was slowed down by a cool summer of consistent temperatures, and harvest began only slightly ahead of normal. A heat spell in late August sped up ripening suddenly, but cool fall temperatures that followed lengthened the harvest. This was the second consecutive dry growing season in the Napa Valley and the reduced crops resulted in vines yielding berries that showed great expression of their vineyards and rich, concentrated flavors.
To create Emblem Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Emblem Wines sourced grapes from throughout Napa Valley’s finest winegrowing regions, including Rutherford, Atlas Peak, Wooden Valley, and Oso Vineyard at the northeastern end of Napa Valley. By blending fruit from Napa’s volcanic hillside soils and the deeper alluvial soils of the valley floor, Emblem accomplished its goal of crafting an outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon that boasts a beautifully rounded mouthfeel and layers of rich, complex flavors.
Four Generations: For four generations, the Michael Mondavi family has strived to craft world class wine in the Napa Valley. Emblem wines, launched in 2006 by the Michael Mondavi family, continues that tradition, as 3rd generation vintner Michael Mondavi works with his son, winemaker Rob Mondavi and his daughter Dina to produce two single vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons.

Winemaking: After the grapes were gently hand-harvested, de-stemmed and crushed, the juice fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with an extended post-fermentation maceration that beautifully married flavors and tannins, giving the Emblem Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon its lovely, seamless texture.
Malolactic fermentation in barrel, combined with 18 months aging in French oak barrels, further concentrated the wine’s rich cherry, dark berry and cassis flavors, adding subtle nuances of toasted vanilla and toffee. Enjoy this lovely Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, lamb and duck dishes, as well as flavorful cheeses.
Four generations of our family have helped bring Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to the forefront of the fine wine world. The artistry and passion that continue to support this rich winemaking tradition have inspired us to create Emblem from Napa Valley’s most exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon sub-appellations and vineyards. We hope you enjoy this rich, elegant taste of our past and future.
