Downton Abbey Wine Presents the Countess of Grantham Collection
When Mr. Carson selects the evening’s wine for Lord and Lady Grantham, he must consider their preferences and that of their colorful assemblage of guests. American-born wife, Lady Cora and her relatives from across the pond, bring a more modern sensibility to the table and growing up on the grapes of California adds to the diversity of the family’s palate.
Enjoy a glass that harkens back to a forgotten age – perhaps on one of your “weekends.”
2012 Downton Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon
The Downton Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon takes a balanced approach: on the nose, scents of ripe red cherries and subtle oak dominate. On the full-bodied palate, more concentrated cherry flavors are comingled with spicy notes and hints of soft vanilla. A wine with great concentration of flavor, complexity and structure, this is an elegant bottling worthy of your grandest Downton-esque dinners or more intimate celebrations.
2013 Downton Abbey Chardonnay
Our Downton Abbey Chardonnay displays lovely aromas of tropical fruits and subtle oak on the nose, which give way to flavors of citrus and fresh-cut pineapple on a soft, silky palate. The wine’s bright fruit characters and luscious mouthfeel continue through a clean, medium finish. This beautifully balanced and food-friendly bottling is the perfect wine choice for your most regal gatherings or spontaneous get-togethers.
Our Vineyards: The Downton Abbey winemaking team looked to estate vineyards in Lodi, California as the high-quality fruit source for the new Countess of Grantham Collection.
Classic Mediterranean Climate: Located in the heart of California, Lodi takes advantage of the gap between the northern and southern coastal ranges surrounding the San Francisco Bay. As the day’s temperature rises, cool breezes drift in from the Delta, keeping the nights cool which is ideal for the development of complexity in finished wines.
Ideal Terroir: Rich and well-drained mineral soils—ranging in type from Sandy Loam to Clay Loam—with low to medium fertility allow the vines to slowly draw water to impart excellent color and intense fruit flavors.
