Features
2009 Denier-Handal Vineyard, Alexander Valley Petite Sirah 750ml 3-Pack
The 2009 Denier-Handal Petite Sirah is a full bodied, well-balanced wine that exhibits the best varietal characteristics of Petite Sirah. The balance between the fruit flavors, tannin and acid makes this a wonderful vintage. The first thing you notice is its brilliant, deep purple, glass staining color looking very much like a jewel in your glass. The aromas are pure fruit, plums and blackberries with hints of spices and wood. Raspberries, black currants, apricots, blackberries, and black pepper are the initial flavors with some of us also tasting nuances of black cherry, figs, cedar and other spices. The finish is long and enjoyable. This is a typical, well balanced, Alexander Valley Petite Sirah, brilliant, bright fruit, elegant with smooth tannins that will age well.

We have been farming winegrapes and producing wines in Ecuador, Chile, and California for over 27 years. Dick got started in Ecuador thanks to Don Angel Duran who took him under his wing teaching him about farming grapes. He was simply a farmer, the Mayordomo of a large hacienda in the highlands of the Andes outside of Quito, the capital of Ecuador, but he knew about grapes. While working for the Patron, he was sent to Argentina to learn viticulture. Unfortunately, he could never support his family making wine or Pisco. Then we met, and he found his chance to return to viticulture.
Although we grow mostly Cabernet Sauvignon we have small amounts of wonderful Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Merlot and Syrah. Thanks to the guidance of Peter Wellington we were able to start produce excellent wines that he as winemaker, crafted. We are pleased to be able to share these wines with you.
