(Nobody actually sings Staind at karaoke.)

TURN UP THE NOYES!!

Drink this: If you're having the salmon!

Don't drink this: If you're having the Alpha-Bits.

Some skeptics wonder: Whether describing a wine with the phrase "feminine yet powerful" isn't just a tad patronizing.

The experts say: "STFU and drink."

On this product's car, there is a bumper sticker that reads: "PINOT BY CHOICE." (We don't know what it means, either.)

At a karaoke bar, this product sings: Staind.

Features

2009 Pinot Noir, Crane Vineyard, Sonoma Coast 750ml 2-Pack

Feminine, yet powerful, this fine pinot offers red fruit aromas of cherries, raspberry and red currant bound with those of licorice, black tea and caramel.  Complex and inviting in the nose, sweet in the mouth, silky in the finish--what more do you need?

The Crane vineyard, (located at the base of Crane Canyon just south of Santa Rosa) benefits from cool breezes that sweep from Bodega Bay down through the ‘Petaluma Gap.’ Warm afternoons and cool evenings make for ripe flavors, abundant fruit aromas and bright acidity.  Shallow alluvial soils and the Cranes’ commitment to dry farming, (no or minimal irrigation), guarantee concentrated flavors.

David Noyes produced the 2009 wine from the Dijon clones 115, 667 and 777, and about 40% of the Italian 'Pinot Nero', clone 18.  The Dijon clones give fruit and soft tannins the pinot nero, a wild berry and dark color.

2009 Pinot Noir Freestone Hill Vineyard, Dutton Ranch, Russian River Valley 750ml 2-Pack

Rich and inviting, the 2009 Freestone Hill opens with aromas of pomegranate, smoke, iodine, and roasted nuts; the palate likewise explodes with flavor, ripe red fruits, mint, warm earth, caramel and toffee, all of which evolve into a finish reminiscent of concentrated raspberry preserve.

The Dutton's 'Freestone Hill' vineyard is located just west of Freestone and about a mile south of the old logging town of Occidental.  The vineyard benefits, (or suffers, depending upon one's perspective), from cool, often wet spring weather that serves to slow shoot growth and impede set.  This climate virtually insures tiny berries on small clusters, (low yields!).  By late summer however the afternoons bake with the August sun that brings us Sonoma'ns out to the coast...The small berries ripen quickly and much care must be taken to harvest before they simply dry on the vine!  When all goes well, as it did in 2009, the result is a concentrated, distinctive wine that combines the racy minerality of coastal fruit with the decadence of a sun-ripened blackberry picked on a lazy summer's day.

David Noyes
Founded:
2006
Location:
Sonoma, CA

I founded David Noyes Wines to fulfill my life-long dream to provide wines that connect us to the natural world, to winemaking traditions, and that provide tangible expressions of the mysteries of time, place and transformative experience. More specifically, (and less poetically), my wines provide unique expressions of pinot noir and other varietals from selected Sonoma County vineyards. My winemaking techniques are selected to minimize handling and maximize the individuality, flavor and balance of each lot.

My winemaking career began in the cellar at Ridge Vineyards in 1970, between then and now I’ve worked in Monterey, Mendocino, Livermore, France and Sonoma Valley. In 1989 I began work with the Kunde family to create Kunde Estate Winery; I started my own label in 2001, and in 2006 left Kunde to devote myself entirely to David Noyes Wines.

David Noyes Wines consists of myself, my wife Grace, and our generous family and friends. We produce small lots of pinot noir, zinfandel, chardonnay and tocai friulano from selected Sonoma County vineyards located in the Russian River, Dry Creek, and Sonoma Valleys. These wines express the character of the vineyard, vintage, and my own esthetic judgment, informed through over 30 years of experience in the creation of noteworthy, well-regarded, premium wines; they offer distinct personality, balance and an excellent complement to fine cuisine.
