Drops of Jupiter?

Sangiovese dates back to 16th century Roman winemaking. It literally translates to "blood of Jove," in tribute to the Roman god Jupiter.

Jupiter was a pretty big deal. He was associated with governing bodies. Statesmanship. Rulers and kings. He was basically the equivalent, unoriginal version of Zeus.

The Romans called Jupiter "Optimus Maximus," a name later used for off-brand Transformer figurines and the budget edition of "Gladiator's" main character. "Optimus Maximus," for those who do not speak Latin, literally translates to "Big Daddy."

Jupiter had a long, flowing beard and a bicycle he called "Tiffany." His prize-winning topiaries were the envy of all the Romans. Jupiter perfected a recipe for Buffalo chicken. "It's the breading!" He used to proclaim.

Jupiter had a pet falcon named Kevin and a cat called Jarvis. Kevin and Jarvis used to join Jupiter whenever he rode Tiffany through the plaza. Remember, Tiffany is the name of a bicycle.

When Jupiter died, his beard was jettisoned into space, where it reacted with a bunch of celestial bodies and turned into the planet we know as Jupiter. Scientists everywhere praise the ancient Romans for their foresight and advanced knowledge of stellar beard sciences. And that is why you should by this Sangiovese.

Features

2009 Condé Sangiovese di Romagna DOC 750ml 3-Pack

This Sangiovese is an aromatic and intense red capable of combining a rich tannic structure with a fresh elegant drink; the more flowery parcels and those rich in primary aromas blend to make the wine versatile and extremely enjoyable.

In the vineyard: The high density of the vines (more than 5000 plants per hectare), the selection of the best clones, the most suitable rootstocks and the care with which we follow the vines, from the dry pruning to the harvest which is completely carried out by hand, allow us to obtain grapes of great concentration and balance. The variability of alchemy between exposure and composition of our soils allows us to draw on all of the varietal nuances, from the fresh and flowery notes to those richer in tannin and structure.

In the cellar: The berries are taken to the cellar after being picked and are placed in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature to ferment. The vinification process includes various delestage and pumping over procedures. The aim is the complete extraction of the noble compounds from the pomace. Then follows a period (which varies according to the vintage) of post-fermentation maceration to complete the sensory characteristics. Following this the wine completely undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel.

Vendor Details

The Condé Company

Location:
Fiumana di Predappio (FC), Italy

Nestled in the Predappio hills, at an altitude of between 150 and 350 m above sea level, the Condé estate covers 92 hectares, 75 of which are vineyard. The estate, which was originally made up of nine farms, now represents excellence in Emilia Romagna.

This company was created with a specific idea in mind: to produce, in a territory as suitable as Predappio, a great, pure Sangiovese. Francesco Condello founded the vineyard in 2001 to make a dream come true: to produce a wine equal in quality to that of the best Brunello di Montalcino.
The idea is ambitious, but with hard work, a love for these vines, a "terroir" of the highest quality, along with the professionalism and expertise of Winemaker Federico Curtaz, it may come true one day.

For hundreds of years Predappio has been the land of Sangiovese, and this wealth of experience is expressed through the efforts of the many people who have worked and continue to collaborate on this project.

Condé today, after years of experimenting with the vines and production, is taking on the great national and international wines by producing a single label with its own name in three versions Doc, Superiore and Riserva.
