Features

2009 Circadia Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml 2-Pack

The inaugural 2009 Circadia Cabernet Sauvignon is the culmination of many years of diligence and patience. Circadia captures Napa Valley as a whole, a tribute to all the great vineyards from one end of the valley to the other.

Unique parcels of fruit from many special vineyards in Napa Valley each contribute elements of fruit flavor, aroma, palate structure and tannin. Capturing the best attributes of these distinctive small batches of grapes is the key to Circadia's complexity. Aromas burst forth and a silken treasure unfolds onto your palate. This is a rich and vibrant wine of signature Napa Valley style, possessing classic Cabernet Sauvignon flavors and structure.

Label: Gifted artist, Michael McDermott created this original piece of art especially for Circadia. The lines and swirls represent the travels of a winemaker moving tirelessly around the valley, collecting a little fruit from here and there and bringing it home to make something magical. Inspiration for the name comes from the circadian rhythms that guide a bee, heading out on its daily adventure to collect nectar much in the same way a winemaker travels the valley selecting the best grapes.

Owners:
Rob & Kat McDonald
Founded:
2008
Location:
Napa, CA

It started 20 years ago with an opportunity to work for a craft brewer in Western Australia. Showing up in Australia with a degree from the University of California, a good work ethic and a "can do" spirit was the perfect combination of right place-right time. After three years down under, Kat moved back to the US and her husband, Australian Rob McDonald quickly followed.

They founded Old Bridge Cellars and began importing the legendary Australian wines they both loved...d'Arenberg, Jasper Hill, Yarra Yaring, Leeuwin Estate. Along the way, Kat took a break and went to law school, they planted vineyards in both Australia and the Napa Valley and began making their own wines including the eponymous named Mak.

In 2008, they founded Art+Farm Wine in Napa. Art+Farm is home to their single vineyard wines the girls in the vineyard, their outrageous blends-The Messenger and their true varietals: Circadia.

Kat and Rob live in Napa with their two children and an odd looking creature that is supposed to be a dog. Kat is a little obsessed with her heritage breed chickens and the eggs they lay and also her bees. Rob is obsessed with compost and growing the perfect tomato. Both are huge proponents of dry farming and see water as the single biggest factor in the future of agriculture.
