If you’re the kind of person drinking mead, you’re likely the kind of person who’ll appreciate Chaucer.

Hey, ain’t nothing wrong with that, though! Chaucer’s got sex, adventure, romance, joy, suffering, and language that’s as innovative as a Snoop Dogg record. Chaucer’s a great read, especially after you knock back a few and don’t care how you pronounce the words. It’s only natural that at some point a brave mead-maker would pay homage!

The Chaucer’s Mead 4 Pack offers two great flavors, the alfalfa and orange blossom Honey Mead and the slightly more daring Raspberry Mead. This dessert-style “wine” is made in a way that highlights the unique nature of mead, and captures the spirit of all those olde proto-English types that used to run around in the wood, looking like Alan Moore and fighting to create a common language from little hand-me-down scraps of Europe. It’s fun and fruity and you won’t know what to expect, but after a few sips, you’ll begin to understand it.

That’s why we suspect Chaucer would be happy to share his name with these four bottles. Anybody who came up with the Wife of Bath would certainly be okay with mead endorsements.

Made from fresh honey without the addition of artificial flavorings, concentrates or artificial colorings. The honey for this specialty dessert–style wine is produced in hives throughout the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is composed of a blend of four types of honey: orange blossom, mountain wildflower and sage and cotton–alfalfa. Each brings a unique quality to the blend and contributes to the overall complexity of the Mead.

The raspberries for this wine are from Driscoll’s berry growers in the Watsonville, CA area. The honey used to make the Mead is a blend of alfalfa, orange blossom, sage and mountain wildflower collected from our local bee keepers in Northern California.
