I cannot believe how you are both behaving this evening. Roger, look at your wife. Look at how embarrassed she is right now. And you, Gregory, are no better than your brother. Spouse or not, the chances of you seeing me naked any time soon are very, very slim right now, mister.

You are both professional business men in your forties, for Pete’s sake! You can’t put your silly sibling rivalry aside for one nice evening? You can’t just relax and let each other enjoy a glass of Cathedral Ridge Reserve Pinot? Of course not. You’ve gotta one-up one another with your “I detect perfumed notes of wild rhubarb and dried violets!" "Well, I am getting a palate full of blueberries and orange marmalade!” routine. Very mature, fellas. It looked like two children about to scrap over who got to ride the swing first. I hope you’re both very proud of that.

Well, I had thought we might split this last bottle over meats and cheeses, but I see now that’s impossible. CHILDREN, after all, shouldn’t drink wine. Susan and I will just enjoy it ourselves, far, far, away from your petty bickering, and then we'll buy a couple plane tick - Oh, NOW you’re ready to behave, are you? That figures.

2011 Cathedral Ridge Dampier RSV, Pinot Noir 750ml 3-Pack

Located on the north side of Columbia River sits Dampier Vineyard in Underwood Mountain, WA. Much higher in elevation, approximately 1,100 feet, this vineyard benefits from southern facing slopes with great exposure to the sun and cool Gorge winds throughout the growing season. These reserve tier grapes are picked from the most coveted Eastern block.

Delicate and silky, this cool-climate Pinot Noir displays perfumed notes of wild rhubarb and dried violets with a palate full of blueberries and orange marmalade.

Vendor Details

Cathedral Ridge Winery

Owner:
Robb Bell
Founded:
2003
Location:
Hood River and Dundee, OR

Cathedral Ridge became the destination it is today in 2003 when Don Flerchinger decided to put his vineyard – Flerchinger Vineyards – up for sale. His neighbor Robb Bell, retired from a marketing background at Procter & Gamble, made him an offer.

Flerchinger had focused on Alsatian varietals for the winery. After Bell’s purchase, he brought on his virtual godson Michael Sebastiani of Sonoma winemaking notoriety as the winemaker. Bell and Sebastiani then switched the focus to a trilogy of Alsatian, Burgundian, and Bordeaux inspired varietals that grew so well a few miles east, and Cathedral Ridge was born.

Today, Cathedral Ridge is one of the most award winning wineries in the gorge. At the same time, the winery maintains its roots…literally. The same Riesling and Pinot Gris grapes Don Flerchinger planted in the 1980’s still bare fruit to this day. This is the message Cathedral Ridge greets every customer with today: great wines can come from a small, boutique operation.
