Features
2012 Cathedral Ridge Pinot Noir, Bangsund Vineyard, Columbia Valley 750ml 3-Pack
Located just 20 miles to the east of Hood River in The Dalles, OR, sits the Bangsund Vineyard. Warmer in climate, yet still able to produce a delicate Pinot Noir with a true balance of fruit and acidity. This Pinot Noir mantains structure, balance, and the signature flavors that are a mainstay of the Bangsund Vineyard.
Barrel aged in neutral oak barrels, this is a truly unique Oregon Pinot Noir. Grown in a warmer climate than the traditional Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs, this wine has a soft palate filled with notes of pie cherries, clove and cinnamon spice. The nose is dominated by wonderful earthy notes of truffles, white pepper and tobacco leaves which lead into a finish of warm strawberry jam and raspberry fruit leather.

We are blessed to be in a growing region where both rainforest and desert can be found within close proximity. Just west of Hood River in the Columbia Gorge we receive 130 inches of rain/year but 20 miles east of us near The Dalles, OR, only 10 inches fall. This allows us to grow grapes representing the four great wine growing regions of the world (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhine and Rhone) all in our backyard. Almost nowhere else in the world is this possible. This proximity means that all our grapes are picked, transported, crushed and in the tanks fermenting within about six hours and, as everyone in the industry knows, grapes hate to travel.
We are also especially lucky to have as our winemaker a fourth generation Sebastiani in Michael. He has spent his whole life with wine and brings his skill and art to Cathedral Ridge Winery.
