2009 Primitivo 750ml

The last two years this Primitivo has been the top selling wine in Castoro Cellars' tasting room and after just one sip you will understand why. From their organically farmed Whale Rock vineyard, this clone of Zinfandel is a fruit-filled wine crafted in an Italian style.  As this vineyard matures the grapes are developing more character and layers of flavors which you'll notice in the aromas and the mouth. Primitivo is a clone of zinfandel imported from Italy, thus some of zinfandel's characteristics will be found in the wine. It's a lively, fruit-filled wine that has a touch of earthiness that is associated with northern Italian wines.

2010 Zinfandel, Whale Rock 750ml

From Castoro Cellars' organically grown Whale Rock vineyard, this is a big Zin. Their Whale Rock Vineyard is riddled with fossils from ancient whales. The fossils and limestone in the soil create very distinctive wine. These grapes are farmed 100% organic and CCOF certified, while the vines are grown in the traditional head pruned fashion that leads to less crop and intense flavors. The wine is a prime Paso Robles Zinfandel in all aspects and an exquisite balance of spice, dark berries and a touch of oak. Enjoy with hearty entrees and your favorite barbeque!

2010 Zinfandel, Estate Cobble Creek 750ml

This wine is from vineyards that surround Niels and Bimmer Udsen's home and the tasting room. All the grapes are grown in the traditional head pruned style with limited production. These grapes are grown to produce wines of distinction with deep color and flavor extraction. This vineyard tends to exhibit great raspberry fruit notes. As you enjoy the bouquet take notice of the elegant fruit and ripe plum aromas coupled with the spiciness characteristic of rich Zinfandels. Enjoy this limited bottling now or hold some to compare with future vintages.

2010 Tempranillo, Whale Rock 750ml

Whale Rock vineyard is an ongoing project of owners Niels and Bimmer. This vineyard is a CCOF certified organic farm. This Tempranillo is an amazing wine full of layers of fruit aromas of blueberries, plum and strawberries. You’ll note hints of cedar, cocoa and anise in the flavors balanced with light tannins. The wine was aged for 13 months to fully integrate the aromas and flavors. The Spaniards, known for their Tempranillo, would be jealous of this wine’s finesse! Enjoy with Paella or pair with tapas and mixed grilled entrees.
