Basiricò Principe di Malumeri Extra Virgin Olive Oil, .75 Liter

 

This oil carries the prestigious designation of D.O.P. Valli Trapanesi, attesting to its authenticity and quality.   The high presence of Cerasuola, an olive varietal found only in the area, gives the oil an intense fruity, herbaceous and grassy aroma. It has a very slightly bitter and quite piccante to finish. Its intensity is tempered by the sweeter Nocellara del Belice, and especially the floral character of the rare Biancolilla.  The taste is of spic, tomatoes, almonds and grass.  This oil is delicious for finishing grilled and braised meats, roasted vegetables and any application requiring an intense taste. It is spectacular on fresh heirloom tomatoes - standing up boldly to the tomatoes' acid.

Composition: 80% Cerasuola, 15% Nocellara del Belice, 5% Biancloilla

 

Calvi Mosto Oro Olive Oil, .75 Liter

 

"Mosto" means unfiltered, and in fact, the oil is bottled just as it comes from the mill, without any kind of treatment, after a period of natural decantation. Because this oil is very delicate, every bottle is wrapped in gold foil to protect the oil from light.

 

Thanks to its golden color and its extremely mild and almondy flavor, the extra virgin olive oil "Mosto Oro" enhances the most refined dishes and is especially recommended for dressing fish.  Perfect for dressing crudo and all delicate fish preparations.

 

Del Monaco Organic Olive Oil, .75 Liter

This organic extra virgin olive oil is produced in Strongoli, Calabria completely from olives grown on the estate of Azienda Agricola Del Monaco.  The owner, Luigi Emanuele Romano, oversees every phase of the operation, from cultivation of the trees, pruning, harvesting the fruit and crushing the olives.  His oil gains a very unique character from the blend of more familiar olives, such as Leccino and Frantoio, but especially from the native and very rare Tonda Strongolese. Tonda Strongolese is an ancient olive cultivar documented in Calabria by Basilian monks in the 6th Century.  Today it grows exclusively in a very small region on 300 year old trees.

 

The reference to the Basilian monks carries through to the design of the beautiful gilded label with the antique monks' image.  Many of Casa de Case's customers order "the monk oil" when they call.  The oil is intense, somewhat bitter, grassy, a bit herbaceous and packed with flavor.  It has light pepper on the finish and a pleasant bitterness. This is a finish oil that will add character and flavor overtones to any dish.  We particularly like it on grilled meats.
