Love You 'Til Tuesday

He's the kind of guy who loves the finer things in life. But you're the kind of lady who wants to order pizza and watch TV. What can bring you together? The right wine!

He loves opera. You love rocking out with your band. It's a story as old as at least 1985. Sure, you can have some kind of breakdown in the middle of your date and start singing so everyone around you turns and stares- but wouldn't it be nicer to just sort out your differences at home, over a nice bottle of wine? A bottle that meets BOTH your tastes?

What you're looking at here is four bottles suitable for any type of interest, be it sleeveless undershirts and tuxedos or rat tails and long coats. The lovely ruby hues carry an air of sophistication, but the complex balanced flavors offer scents of vanilla, spice and cola, with tastes of blackberry and strawberry marmalade ideal for spicy, salty, pepperoni-covered pizza. You know, the kind you'd enjoy at your band practice! And yet, this same wine will pair perfectly with a zesty tomato sauce at the upscale Italian place where you make reservations a year in advance.

It's not often you find a wine that can be at home both uptown and downtown. Truly, when drinking this 2008 Caravel Zinfandel Reserve, you'll wish you could make time stand still. And don't forget it's a four pack, so you can drink three now and still hold on to the one that says "Save me!"

2008 Caravel Zinfandel Reserve 750ml 4-Pack

What an amazing follow-up to the Caravel Zinfandel with the exciting new 2008 California Zinfandel Reserve. Gawk upon this wine and it appears to be perfectly aged for its time, with beautiful ruby hues and long legs that make this diva shine like a diamond. Not overripe as many zinfandels have become, the 2008 California Zinfandel Reserve is structured, complex, and balanced. Scents of vanilla, spice, and tobacco help to frame its cola core.

With so much going on, this new wine is fun, fruity, savory, and easy to drink while eating a flavorful meal. Flavors of juicy blackberry compote and ripe strawberry marmalade tango on the palate, and its lengthy finish evolves on the tongue and begs to be paired with zesty tomato sauces, pastas, and spicy/salty pepperoni pizzas.

The story of Caravel / Outcast starts in summer of 2008. Three friends from three distant places come together around a shared passion for California Wine and decide to embark upon a journey together! In an industry with large players and abundant household wine brands, their newly established company had its work cut out. After many days of convivial repartee, they went to work and started planning their first wine release in the summer of 2010. Caravel, their inaugural effort, was received with excitement and exceptional success - the 2007 Cabernet and White Wine Blend sold out in only a few short months.  Given that Caravel was a success in its own right, it became time to ratchet up the stakes and venture into a premium space with Outcast. Having visited upwards of 250 of California's best wineries, the team began seeking choice grapes and wines and realized that they could create something very special in showcasing the best of California varietals while maintaining a heightened sense of terroir and value.

About the names Caravel and Outcast:
Caravel ships (think Columbus’ Nina and Santa Maria) were the first vessels to carry fine merchandise like clothing, spices, and wine from port to port around the world. Today, the Caravel brand exemplifies this same spirit – uniting people one glass at a time.  Outcast describes a wine conceived outside the traditional wine establishment and the people behind the scenes (Alex, Anuj and Peter). Believe us when we say that this band of brothers is idiosyncratic and full of personality (remember the guy at the party with the tartan pants?). Robert Frost once said, “two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." This poem is the beating heart and lifeblood that guides the principles for their efforts. Outcast takes the less beaten path, and this is reflected in all aspects of the brand. The images of the Horse and Lone Rider on the label symbolize the vision and quest that each partner shares - to seek rare wine gems and bring them to you. Closely study the label and myriad esoteric images will be revealed – if you can find all 5, let us know by sending us a facebook message and you may find a surprise waiting!!!
With each bottle purchased, you will feel good about the wine you are enjoying, knowing that you are making a difference. We pledge 5% of our profits to projects that support improving quality of life across the world. Please email us at info@caravelwine.com if you have a suggestion you would like us to consider.
