2012 Browne Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L Magnum
This Cabernet Sauvignon is inky plum in color, rich and viscous. Vanilla bean and sweet tobacco aromatics are carried on an amply structured wine with big fruit flavors of ripe cherries and black figs. The wine finishes with notes of fresh-tilled earth and spiced currants. Pair with a charred rare steak or enjoy on its own.
Winemaking: The fruit for Browne Family was harvested at the peak of Phenolic ripeness and tested on the vine for flavor and structure. Once harvested, all grapes were hand picked into small 1/2 ton bins and immediately de-stemmed. The winery "crusher", used to de stem fruit was removed to maintain 70% whole berries during fermentation. This allowed for great extraction of color and increased the maturity of tannins making the wine more approachable. After pressing occurred, primary fermentation was completed in stainless steel. The new wine was then transferred to 59- gallon French and American Oak casks; selected for their intense Cabernet varietal characteristics and to balance the fruit tannins. Browne Family 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon was barrel aged for 23 months.
Browne Family Vineyards is dedicated to Andrew Browne's grandfather, who inspired him to be the determined and hard working person he is today. William Bitner Browne dedicated his life and used his abilities to help people, from his heroic efforts during World War II and the Korean War to his tireless commitment to his community and law firm.
Beyond the service to his community, Andrew's grandfather also had a strong appreciation for fine wine. His passion for wine began in the 1930s when he was given the opportunity to study at the University of Bordeaux in France. Decades later Andrew's grandfather entrusted in him that spirit and passion behind great wine. Inspired by his passion, Browne Family Vineyards will continue to make wines that William Bitner Browne would be proud of. Browne is the family name and with it comes a responsibility for quality, craftsmanship and commitment now and in the future.
Browne Family Vineyards was developed to showcase the high quality Washington wine that the world class growers and winemakers produce. Browne Family has been a work in progress for the past fifteen years from the development in the vineyards to selecting the winemaking team that understood the vision of what a great wine meant. The finished product is a wine that over delivers.
