Y Does Not Equal A
If you like wine, then you HAVE to buy this Syrah.
Here is plain and simple: you have to drink more Syrah. Why? To protect it.
Let us explain: Syrah is and has always been a grape used to make wine. But its spelling is dangerously close to that of the name "Sarah."
So if we aren't careful "Syrah" could be claimed by the contingent of alternative parents who are dead set on replacing various vowels in the names of their children with y's. Can you imagine living in a world where Syrah is just another way of spelling Sarah?
No! This will not stand! We need to drink more Syrah, because the more we drink, the more common it becomes, and the more common it becomes, the harder it'll be for them to take it away from us.
And, if you're looking for a place to start, please allow us to recommend these Bonaccorsi Syrahs. It doesn't matter if you pour yourself a glass of the 2007 Santa Ynez Syrah - with its perfumed quality, its spicy flavors of red and dark berry, and its floral notes - or the 2007 Larner Syrah - which is surprisingly light on its feet, despite its explosively toasty nose of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry fruit. Either way, you'll be showing your support, not just of Syrah, but of vowels everywhere!
Features
Bonaccorsi 2007 Santa Ynez Syrah 750ml
A blend of Estrella and 383 clones of Syrah from Larner Vineyards, located right outside the Santa Rita Hills AVA. Bright ruby. High-toned, pungent aromas of black raspberry, candied cherry, olive and flowers. Rather suave on entry, then an essence of Syrah in the mid-palate, with an alluring, perfumed quality to the spicy red and dark berry and floral flavors. Finishes sweet and long, with supple tannins. A very harmonious wine that I might have identified as a ripe vintage, modern-style Cote-Rotie.
Bonaccorsi 2007 Larner Syrah 750ml
A blend of 383 from Larner and 383 from Star Lane Vineyards, located in the newly made AVA, Happy Canyon in the Santa Ynez Valley. The 2007 Bonaccorsi Larner Vineyard Syrah displays an explosively toasty nose with strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruit, as well as slightly earthy and mineral undertones. On the palate, it is surprisingly light on its feet considering the intensity of the nose. The texture is actually Pinot-like in its finesse.
