Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.

Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

Features

2011 "Galicia" Albariño 750ml 4-Pack

The 2011 Galicia is off-dry and a perfect sipping wine. It has a pear and apricot bouquet followed by a touch of sweetness and finished with the classic Albariño crisp grapefruit flavors. It pairs well with spicy food, Dungeonous crab, oysters, white fish, summer soups, and fruity desserts.

Albariño is native to Spain, where it is grown in the Rias Baixas appellation in Galicia region (that part of Spain above Portugal).  This is the only part of Spain situated on the cooler waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  This varietal grows best in areas with salty ocean breezes in the afternoon and cool nights, exactly the growing conditions in Edna Valley, which is only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean and about 30 miles south of Paso Robles.

Weather conditions in 2011 were challenging in the late spring, with severe frost in April.  Edna Valley escaped most of the problems experienced in Paso Robles, but rain was looming when the grapes were harvested in late October.  The grapes had good color and soft tannins with higher acidity, characteristic of the 2011 harvest.

Dorothy Schuler
Location:
Paso Robles, CA
Bodegas Paso Robles is dedicated to producing wines using Spanish and Portuguese varietals.  We take old world vines and make new world wines of the highest quality.

Bodegas Paso Robles winemaker, and co-owner Dorothy Schuler works with grapes native to Spain and Portugal and grapes, though nonnative, that have –for hundreds of years- been used in lberian winemaking. All of my wines are hand crafted and aged in premium French and American barrels. As winemaker, I search for grapes sources throughout the state, looking for the most mature vines, noninvasive and ecological sound vineyard practices, and grape flavors as close to Europe ones as possible. Grapes from Bodegas Paso Robles wines come from Paso Robles, Napa Valley, San Benito County and Edna Valley.
