Convenience Store Vino

Welcome, good friend, to our bodega winery. Please: Take a seat on this upturned milk crate.

Come! Step right in. Mind not Tabitha, her mange is not…how to say?…catching. She is a good girl, Tabitha. Though her purring is loud, no? Pssst Pssst! Away, Tabitha! We have a visitor, she-manx. Begone.

Ah yes, the wine. The wine! We chose this location in the rolling hills of South Bronx for its rich mineral content and steady foot traffic. It has always been our dream to own a winery. But first we had to settle for this bodega. Let me pour you a glass of the Grenache and your mouth will do the talking, yes?

Mmmmm. You taste notes of spicy red fruits? Backed by a strong backbone of lottery tickets and high-volume grain alcohol? Delicioso, no? The tastes come from making the wine right here in our bodega. This vintage, it has a note of…is that…old mop head?

Excuse me, my friend. I must restock my supply of unripe bananas and enormous yucca roots. Now that the winery has taken off I probably don’t need to keep running the bodega. But I love the work, yes?

Bodegas el Angosto / One Vine Wines

Founded:
1800’s
Owner:
Cambra family
Location:
Finca Santa Rosa, Spain
Valencia is a small DO along the Mediterranean coast, with a hot climate and alot of sunshine year-round. The better vineyards are located in high elevations, which gives more temperature variation and keeps the fruit from becoming overripe. Monastrell is the native superstar grape of the region, and many wines here also blend other local varieties such as Garnacha, Bobal, and Syrah.

Bodegas el Angosto is owned by the Cambra family, and located in Finca Santa Rosa, in their restored bodega dating from the 1800’s. The family has two estates: Santa Rosa and El Angosto, totaling 30 hectares. Father and son Vicente and Rafael Cambra have continued their family’s tradition of creating high-quality, concentrated, elegant Mediterranean wines that reflect the very best of the region’s terroir.
