"Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world," Ernest Hemingway once said. That's why we drink it while we eat nachos and throw sock grenades at each other. Without wine? Childish. With wine? Cultured.

2012 Bell Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 750ml 2-Pack
Gold Medal, 94 Points, “Best of Napa-Red” - California State Fair Wine Competition
Silver Medal - Orange County Fair
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that derives its complexity from the blending of six grape varietals. In the glass, the wine shows its dark ruby color while aromas of cassis and dark berries rise up to your nose. Deep in color, the nose opens with ripe red fruit, dried herb, and granite. The palate is rich, round and mouth filling with firm tannins and a great structure. Addition of Syrah softens the apparent tannins on the leading edge of the wine, allowing the fruit to shine. The end result is a supple, elegant wine that pairs well with a wide array of foods from grilled meats, roasted vegetables or pizza.
The Wine: Our 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend created in the historic "claret" style from select vineyards and appellations within Napa, Lake County and the Sierra Foothills. The word "Claret" was used in popular English literature before 1350 and refers to Bordeaux wines that have been “Hermitaged” – wines from Galicia or Hermitage (often Syrah) have been added – to improve the fruit and color. In our case, we add a very small amount of Syrah to soften the tannins, improving the mouthfeel and texture of the wine, thus eliminating the need for fining agents. Drawing on his experience with Cabernet Sauvignon clones and his intimate knowledge of sub-appellations within the region, Anthony has crafted a delicious wine that builds upon the unique terroir found in Napa Valley, Lake County and the Sierra Foothills.
Vintage Notes: The 2012 growing season in Napa Valley was about as perfect as it could be for grape growing. An abundant grape crop gave winemakers the opportunity to take only the best fruit. Our mild spring led to a pageant of spring bud break, steady flowering, and even fruit set. A long stretch of summer days that grapes love - wide temperature swings, from the low 50s at night to the mid 80s during the day - gave them a chance to ripen slowly and evenly. Light rains held off until after the grapes arrived on the crush pad. This vintage will certainly be remembered as one of the very best ever for the Napa Valley.

Situated off the beaten path, just south of Yountville, is an exquisite pale stone winery, shrouded by oak, bordered to the south by Hopper Slough, surrounded by vineyard and cloaked in quiet. After looking for twenty years, winemaker Anthony Bell found the perfect place to produce the wines he had long dreamed of - limited production, hand crafted wines that showcase the concept of "terroir". In 1998, Bell Wine Cellars opened its doors to the public to share the beauty of the place, and the wine.
In June 2002 - Ron Berberian, former California wine wholesaler, and Alex Spanos, owner of the San Diego Chargers, formed Spanos Berberian Winery, LLC. The venture acquired interest in the brand name and assets of Bell Wine Cellars, and a new partnership was formed with Anthony.
Nestled between the stacks of aromatic barrels and towering stainless steel tanks, guests can taste the signature Bell Cabernet, at the intimate, elegant tasting room. We also serve Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah, encompassing a wide range of flavors, from vineyards both near and far afield.
