Mom? Dad? What’s going on?

What are those things sticking out of your heads?

“Join us, son.”

“Yes, join us.”

What’s going on here? Are you guys okay? Oh god, your heads. I’ll call 911!

“There’s no need for that, son.”

“No. No need for that.”

Why are you speaking so slowly and deliberately? And why are you smiling like hobgoblins? You’re starting to freak me out! WHAT’S STUCK IN YOUR HEADS?!

“Wine bottles, son.”

“Yes. Wine bottles. Delicious 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon wine bottles.”

The…the Atlas Peak 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon 2 Pack I bought mom for Christmas? You’re supposed to DRINK them! You’re supposed to enjoy the Mount Veeder’s firm acidity and flavors of blackberries! You’re supposed to savor the Spring Mountain’s soft tannins and stone fruit flavor!”

“They can be filled with other things, too.”

“Yes. Other things. After the wine is gone.”

Oh god. Oh god this isn’t happening. What’s in there?!

“Spores.”

“Yes. Spores. Spores live in the bottle, now. Need to reach the brain. Bottle helps them reach the brain.”

Oh no, this isn’t happening! I don’t want this! Please let this be a dream! Please, I don’t want this!

“Don’t worry. We bought a 2 pack, too.”

“There’s a bottle for you and your sister, too.”

NO! PLEASE! YOU CAN’T DO THIS! NOOOOOO!

“It will all be over soon.”

Atlas Peak

Founded:
1987
Owners:
Ascentia Wine Estates, LLC
Location:
Napa Valley, CA
Founded in 1987 and named for the mountain that rises above the Napa Valley, Atlas Peak has become one of Napa Valley’s leading producers of mountain-grown estate wines. Led by the efforts of consulting winemaker Nick Goldschmidt, the Atlas Peak team crafts wines reflective of their mountain origin, while striving for balance and expressive character.

Atlas Peak crafts Napa Valley mountain appellation Cabernet Sauvignon from such prestigious areas as Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain District and Mount Veeder, in addition to Atlas Peak. These mountain vineyards, with elevations between 1050 and 2600 feet, benefit from a slightly different growing pattern than on a valley floor. Budbreak tends to be later, as spring is cool and the soil is slow to warm. The vines grow slower than those that experience the warmer days on the valley floor. As fall arrives, the vineyards are above the fog that creeps in from the San Francisco bay and enjoy bright and warm sunlight from sunrise to sunset. This allows the grapes to ripen perfectly and exhibit intense varietal character.
