All-New All-Different Wine.Woot Details

Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.

Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

Let's Wine It On

With all of the untapped potential in the "sexy wine" market, we've decided to take our wine-selling in a new direction.

Maybe you've noticed our Phat Goose sale in the Woot Plus section of Wine.Woot. Seeing Fat Gus every day has surely stimulated your lust for wine. It's also made us realize something: there's a lot of sexy wine out there.

The Arcadian Vineyard 2006 Stolpman Syrah, for example, is oozing with sexy flavors. Described as "Fleshy and smooth, with sweet red and dark berry flavors and gentle tannins," this wine is perfect for special occasions -- awwww, yeah. It's even got a "building note of sexy, sweet oak spices." Need we say more?

Then there's the 2006 Purisima Syrah, full of erotic scents of violet, boysenberry, olive tapenade, and hot, hot, HOT cracked pepper. It also includes red and dark berry flavors and notes of olive, floral pastille and sultry, peppery spices.

See what we mean! These wines are downright sexy.

Features

2006 Purisima Syrah, Santa Ynez Valley 750ml
Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed bouquet of violet, boysenberry, olive tapenade and cracked pepper. Classic Syrah on the nose and palate, which offers sweet red and dark berry flavors and notes of olive, floral pastille and peppery spices. Suave and expansive Syrah with impressive finishing clarity and persistence.

The Harvest
2006 was slow to evolve and with the cool winds out of the Santa Rita Hills blowing at the higher elevation of Purisima, we did not begin harvest here until November 4th. Purisima Mountain's high elevations (reaching upwards of 1,250 feet) influence climatic factors such as moisture, temperature and exposure. The climate is also influenced by marine air drawn up from the Pacific Ocean through the Santa Ynez Valley, which brings morning fog and cool ocean breezes in the summer afternoons. These cooling factors ensure moderate temperatures that allow for a longer, steadier ripening period, leading to superior grapes.

The Production
This wine was fermented with 50% whole cluster to about 34 degrees centigrade. Lots were pressed directly to barrel and aged for 26 months before being bottled without fining or filtration.

2006 Stolpman Syrah, Santa Ynez Valley 750ml
Opaque purple. High-pitched blackberry and cherry aromas are complemented by notes of violet and dried rose, along with a smoky undertone. Fleshy and smooth, with sweet red and dark berry flavors and gentle tannins. Gains depth with air and finishes with good grip and a building note of sexy, sweet oak spices. This should be drinking well in the next few years.

Owner/Winemaker Joe Davis shares that these Syrahs are drinking extremely well right now, but could also be cellared for another 10-12 years.

Arcadian Winery

Owner:
Joe Davis
Founded:
1996
Location:
Lompoc, CA
Inspired by the great traditions of Burgundian winemaking, Joseph Davis has been making Arcadian Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in California's Central Coast region since 1996. Using French artisan methods and hands-on vineyard management, Joe's Arcadian label consistently receives high marks from the world's most respected wine writers. Following his gut instinct allows him the complete realization of his dream and his mission remains to make wines that fully express the uniqueness of the vineyard and the region while capturing the voluptuous flavor of the grape and the kiss of cool California breezes and warm sunshine.

Traditionally, Joe harvests fruit with much more modest sugar levels and much higher natural acidity than many of his fellow growers. The belief that Arcadian wines will continue to evolve in the bottle for years to come and that this continued evolution will ultimately produce a much more interesting wine is what drives Arcadian's--and Joe's---philosophy of winegrowing.

Top Comments are discussion forum posts we have deemed worthy of your time. Listen, we get a lot of comments, and most of the time, it's pretty forgettable stuff; but sometimes you rise to the top like butterfat in milk. We don't recommend you base your self-worth on how often we feature your comments, but we don't expressly forbid it either.
