The 2007 Kamal is grand and opulent and represents the international emergence of Paso Robles vineyards for producing exquisite Bordeaux style blends. The premium sites of the vineyards and expert cultivation during the growing season enables their winemaker’s craft. Releasing the true potency of each varietal means arriving at a discerning blend. Accordingly, this wine has a pleasing fragrance and smooth tannins that structure and release the ample fruit. There’s lavish cherries, minty sage, and lovely traces of anise. Blackberries and black currants seem to merge, disengage, then fuse together again with the other blended components. Attentive aging with French and Eastern European oak imbues this wine with ineffable layers of aroma made explicit on the palate. The finish is elaborate and lengthy, like a stroll through the vineyards with a close and loyal friend.
