Delicate subtle nose, apples and lime blossoms come to mind. Key lime tart and earthy flavors follow with a tangy, crisp finish. A nice fruity everyday sipper.

WORLD WINE CHAMPIONSHIPS AWARD: Silver Medal
RATING: 86 points (Highly Recommended)
CATEGORY: Riesling, White
ALCOHOL BY VOLUME: 13.5%
TASTING LOCATION: In Our Chicago Tasting Room
TASTING DATE: Apr-15-2013

This is an ordinary Riesling made in a dry style. Peach pit and citrus rind scents lead into similar flavors.

For the Chardonnay from Greatnorthwestwine.com:

Best Buy! Diversion is part of Rainier Wine, a Seattle-based operation that now produces more than 100,000 cases of wine. This is a delicious and refreshing Chardonnay with aromas of pear, fresh caramel and apple, followed by flavors of butterscotch, oak, tropical fruit and spice. It’s a tasty, approachable wine to pair with pasta, salmon or chicken.

Here is more on the Riesling from Andy Perdue at Great Northwest Wine...

Diversion NV Riesling, Washington, $15

By Great Northwest Wine on May 7, 2013

Best Buy! This easy-drinking Riesling from Rainier Wine in Seattle is a delicious combination of quality and value. It opens with aromas of fresh-squeezed lime juice, flint, fresh-cut pineapple and lemon zest. On the palate, it offers gorgeous flavors of blood orange, apple and spice. It provides a sense of elegance on the midpalate with bright acidity and great length. Enjoy with Tex-Mex or Thai dishes with moderate heat.

Rating: Outstanding!

Thanks Damian. Damian is the president of Rainier Wines. Very glad to have him with us. It doesn't take much digging to realize Rainier, through Damian's leadership, punches well above it's weight class in the wine industry.

Very well crafted wines for the price. and even better QPR today here on wine.woot.

And a very cool guy to talk business with.

Welcome!

This is Damian, owner of Rainier Wine, producer's of Diversion from Washington. As I mentioned in the voice mail, these are great food pairing wines as well as awesome every day whites from Washington.

Here are a few recipes and pairings that we do all the time here in the Great Pacific Northwest...

Pacific NW Cheese Fondue
http://diversionwine.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/diversion_cheese_fondue.pdf
This is a traditional fondue with a total PNW spin. Fun and delicious.

Peach Ice Cream with Riesling Peaches
http://diversionwine.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/diversion_peach_icecream.pdf
Peaches come late in the summer here but this is seasonal favorite.

Tom Douglas Crab Cakes
http://diversionwine.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/diversion_crabcakes.pdf
I could do these once a week. Wait a minute, I actually do that during crab season.

Hope you enjoy and please send any questions my way.

Cheers,
Damian

What was the thought behind adding the Riesling to the chard? Seems like an odd choice although one of the woot cellars wines had a similar blend. The Riesling looks off-dry how about the chard?

grilled fruit (pears/apple/peaches)tossed in honey and Riesling is easily the best summer dessert in the world

On it's own, our WA Chard has the acidity and minerality we wanted. Adding Riesling was done to enhance floral qualities of the nose. In WA, you will see it done with Semillon or Riesling. Riesling is more widely available and we do such a good job with it.

Interesting enough, in Oregon, we use Viognier and Muscat (1% each) to add a floral nose to Willamette Valley Pinot Gris.

Total RS on the Chardonnay: 0.64g/100ml or 0.64%
